Horses! UGH! My poor girl hurt herself :(

Had myself a good freak out yesterday afternoon. called the horses up for dinner and all but two come running. Seeker (my 3 yr gelding) came trotting up slowly but was calling back to his best buddy Z. the poor girl came limping up the paddock so slowly and had to keep taking rest breaks and was resting a front foot. I bolt down the paddock to see whats going on and she's managed to rip the back 2 inches of her hoof wall off from her point of heel through to her inner quarter the poor girl had blood sprays up her back legs and on her other front leg and was just miserable. Had the vet out asap and basically all he could do was clean it, fill the foot with local anaesthetic and then remove the section of hoof wall (was only attached very thinly at the coronet with no chance of reattachment). Now my poor girl is out of work for a good 6 months while i PRAY the coronet band wasnt damaged and she can regrow her hoof wall in that section Her foot

all my horses are unshod, so she's even more extra special haha. i have absolutely no clue what happened but now she's happily settled into her yard and stable with my youngest horse to keep her company (seeker got evicted because he was a bully). only needs very small doses of painkillers so she'll walk normally (or more normal) so im happy with that too0
