Shopping for my new body

My best childhood friend and his partner of 20 years are getting married in NYC in December, and I'm going to be a part of the ceremony. It's a really big deal, never mind the fact that none of my friends who will be there have seen me since 50 pounds ago. Needless to say, I want to look smashing!
So yesterday I went to Bloomingdale's and found a ridiculously expensive dress (that I got for 60% off -- score!) in the regular-sized women's designer department. I always despised shopping when I was heavy (except for shoes, and we all know what that's about), but yesterday was a really great day. I had a purpose that made me happy (looking a little bit fabulous for my friend's celebration), and I felt good about trying on all those truly beautiful dresses. I haven't felt that way since 1997!
And you know something really funny? I had forgotten how to shop in a real store. I've been doing TJ Maxx and Marshall's for so long that I must've looked like I just fell off the turnip truck when I figured out I could go in and out of the dressing room as much as I wanted without a plastic number! LOL!
It was a good day. ;c)
Peace,
Alice

I know what you mean. I went to Macy's the other day and was going through their clearance racks as I needed a few work shirts. Mine are getting hideously large on the sides and I still need to be presentable but keep the cost down as I lose. Well, I went to the dressing room and a sales lady was coming out and I stopped thinking I had to ask permission and she was like "go on in" and I thought "Oh. Oops." I'd totally forgotten that these higher end stores don't traumatize you with that number ticket. I actually enjoyed going in and out and trying on stuff. Luckily, I found two nice work shirts that my mom thinks will still fit me for a while as they are more form fitting.
