My hometown of Oak Creek will be running a fitness and weight loss challenge from November 10th-February 10th. You do not have to be an Oak Creek resident to participate. I'm not 100% sure exactly what will go on during the three month period but I know there will be a weigh-in this Saturday at the High School and at other locations in southern Milwaukee County. There will also be health screenings, fitness demonstrations, nutrition experts and prized at the high school on Saturday. There will also be prizes for most weight lost and "flash" fitness events like 5Ks run during the three month period.

Here's the website for the challenge:

and some video from Channel 4 with the mayor

I thought I'd pass on this information in case anyone out there might be interested in it. I've come a long way this year but have struggled a bit the last month as I haven't lost any weight and my eating habits aren't as good as they've been. This challenge comes at the perfect time for me. I know they are having "teams" for weight loss. If anyone is interested in forming a MFP team, let me know.

Steve

The challenge returns this year and now involves four communities and is open to anyone in the Milwaukee area and they are really focusing on fitness this year. There are lots of free fitness events where you can check out different gyms and exercise types, equipment, etc in the Milwaukee area. There will be weekly events - free and open to everyone so I encourage anyone that might be interested to check it out. I've been lucky enough to be selected as a mayor's pick for the challenge and have been partnered with Impact Fitness in Oak Creek - they offer one-on-one personal training and boot camps - which having been grueling for out of shape me but fun as well.
