Hurricane Sandy and election

So I've been worried about this. My initial thought was that due to power outages, voting locations would be disabled. But it looks like the biggest issue in NY and NJ is going to be voter turnout.

It's predicted that Romney may win total votes but Obama will have the electoral vote. Just another reason I HATE our voting process in the good old USA. The people can vote and their votes don't matter. Not that I want either of them to win..
Your thoughts on the impact of Sandy on the election?

I just read where NY gov will sign a referendum to allow those affected by the storm to vote at any polling place. I just read the headline, not the actual article.0

We get to do that here. No set polling place as long as it is within the county. VERY Convenient.
Asked my 5 year old if he wanted to get up early and go with me at 6:30. We normally leave at 7:15. He was wide awake and told all the election workers he was ready to vote. He watched me and got a sticker for being a good boy!0 -
I think people that want to vote in the Northeast will get to - but I'm afraid it will open the door for lawsuits etc... if the voting doesn't go the way people want it to. One way or another, I think there will be issues. I don't think we will know who will be president for several days, if not a month.0

our whole presidential electoral process opens doors for lawsuits. It's the USA. :yawn:0 -
I just read that New Jersey now has until Friday to vote. They're going to call the election tonight though, so why would anyone bother.
Early results show Mitt Romney winning the popular vote by a significant amount (55% to 43%). Obama winning the Electoral College by quite a bit though (257 to 280).
As much as I want Obama to win, this just highlights the disaster that is the Electoral College. No wonder people don't think their votes count.0 -

I didn't know it was possible for a modern day Republican to win the popular vote and lose the election because I've always assumed the Electoral College favored Republicans due to it's favoring of former slave states, i.e. southern states, i.e. Republican states.
Interesting. Maybe if it hurts the Republicans this time more people will push for it's demise.
Not that it will help much while corporate money continues to fund elections, but it would be a nice start.0
