Phenting! :)

Oookay.. so I've kinda vented to my mom and best friend.. but I'd really like to talk to some other phen users...

For the record: I've lost 17 pounds.. and just measured myself today. I've lost anywhere between 1-5 inches.. I'm really proud of what I've done and my accomplishments... I'm not unhappy with what I've done.. it's just being on phen.. I'm wondering if it shouldn't be more and what I need to be doing differently??

My co-worker and friend, told me about phen.. I watched as she went on it and watched her weight loss. She's lost about 50 pounds in 4-5 months.. The doctor that she goes to has now become my doctor, and he requests that people go on the Mediterranean diet. She's followed the diet pretty well, but didn't exercise until the past couple of months. I was a bit hesitant to go on phen, but made the decision that if it helps me get jump started on this.. then I've got to do what I can to help me get healthier. So I went, and was put on phen and thyroid meds for hypothyroidism...

I did, what I consider, good the first month diet and exercise wise... I didn't eat out.. I was preparing my meals at home.. getting up and going and working out. It's been a bit difficult with my hours because I work third shift. I was so proud of my effort and seeing the improvements in just four weeks. Before I went to the doctor for the checkup, I hopped on my scales fully clothed.. I normally weigh when I wake up.. nude.. :D And it said 11 pounds.. but going to the doctor early morning.. which is my end of the day.. fully clothed.. the scales said 7. After I proudly went on and on about what I was eating and doing for exercise.. he told me to lay off of eggs and chicken and eat more beans and fish, told me to learn how to cook.. (I KNOW how to cook.. half of why I'm huge is because I'm too good of a cook... it's the fact that I don't have time like most people working a day job does to cook.. but I DO make time to fix my meals.)... I asked if it was normal for people on phen to lose this less.. and was it because I had a thyroid problem... he said no, with both meds they should be making the weight melt off... So he wrote me another prescription.. told me to fix my diet and sent me on my way. I don't know if it was my pride hurt.. or what.. but I was a little frustrated.. I went "off" a bit for the next two weeks.. kind of not watching what I ate as much.. I was still healthy.. but I would have whatever I wanted now and then.. I was still exercising well.. I just started stressing out so much over it!!

I'm not sure if I do need to just watch my diet.. if it's because I'm exercising when most phen users that go to him don't.. but also, most of his users are day workers. My co-worker spends her work days running around our job, where as my shift it's a lot slower, and unless I start running circles around in the lobby there's really no way for me to be moving constantly.. and I try to move as much as I can! LOL I take the stairs whenever I can.. I'm up cleaning little things.. whatever I can to be up. I'm drinking about 4-5 bottles of water a day.. it's getting so much to where I'm having trouble sleeping because I'm always going to the bathroom.. I'm not eating a few hours before I go to bed... I think if left to it, it's going to come off.. it just may be slower than everyone else. I've had people tell me to lay off of soda... I don't normally drink pop anyways.. I drink only water.. and have had one soda in the past two months since being on phen... I'm stressing over seeing him in the next week or two, because he still won't be happy with the results, and I'm afraid anything I try to tell him, he'll think is an excuse. As far as what I'm doing.. I'm doing a lot better.. a LOT better than I was two months ago. I'm active, I'm awake.. I get up and get things done as much as I can.. I'm accomplishing more.. and it is more difficult on third. I've had people tell me I need to wake up at different times.. Right now I'm waking up at 5pm.. I take the pills.. eat a little something, a tablespoon of natural peanut butter or yogurt before going to the gym.. go to the gym at 6:30, get home by 8.. fix my breakfast and prepare a lunch for me at work... go to work at 11, get off at 7, normally after doing errands or finishing up at work, I get home by 8. And try to be in bed by 9 or ten so I can be up again at 5.

I'm considering that maybe I either need a new doctor.. or go off of the phen completely.
Someone told me maybe if I stop exercising that'll help.. I've taken a little break this week.. but I don't feel as energetic as I did when I was going more often. If it comes to going off the phen or letting up a lot on the exercise, I'll go off the phen. Especially as inactive as I am.. this is really my only time of good activity and exercise.. It makes me feel better... so I don't know... I'd love some feedback! I hate to sound whiney.. especially since that's what I'm trying to stay away from! LOL But I don't feel like anyone really understands what's going on and need some advice or thoughts from anyone else on phen!! Maybe there's something I need to do differently? I am going to have to clean up the diet.. it's been good.. but not on with the Mediterranean diet... but I don't know.. ah well.. :) Thanks for reading!!!!

I think that its because you are not taking enough calories to support the excessive you do. I have looked at your diary and you don't eat enough most days. I have no energy to work out right now but when i do i am going to up my calories..i did research on the internet and found you have to replace the calories you burn by working out because you need a set number of calories for your basic functions and if you dont replace those your body will burn muscle and put your self into starvation mode. I do drink lots of water half my weight is what they say so thats about 108 ounces. Maybe you should mix it up that way by upping your calories and water intake..I also read to up you metabolism you eat more frequently like every 2 hours. I know that sounds like you would be eating alot but it could just be small snacks like a few grapes, apple, few crackers, pickles things that dont have lots of calories but lets your body know your not going to starve. Hope something i mention helps you..At the end of the day if you are feeling better thats what matters and the weight will come off. Take care.
  • It did feel better last month when I was eating smaller meals... If you're looking at the past couple of weeks diaries.. I've not really put everything I've ate.. I told Mama I was getting a bit disheartened.. that's why if you see me post my diary and I say I'm not finished (mainly for my best friend who's helping me and watching me like a hawk LOL) it's because I have limited computer access.. normally I'll eat a little bit more... Last month, I was eating more.. especially a lot more fruits and vegetables almost all the time.. I would cut up stuff and put it in zippies and cups and take it with me.. so if I was hungry I'd have cucumbers or broccoli or carrots.. or apples.. or pears.. anything raw and snack on it when I was wanting something. I asked my doctor about the calorie intake.. if I needed to eat more after I worked out then the usual calories I ate a day because of my workout.. he said that's only true if you are trying to maintain a weight.. if you're trying to lose.. only eat the calories you're supposed to daily.

    I really think I need a new doctor.. :/

I asked my dr. that too. I'm hungry after exercising. You should only eat your calorie allowance. Do not add in the extra allowance for exercise.

Hi ladies not sure if you guys are still working on loseing, maintaining weight loss... I'm still at it..I got to the point where my diabetes was out of control cause I went off my new diet and stopped phen because it stopped working. Fast ford to about three months ago and my a1c is at 8.8 and were talking injection now that I decided to look into weight loss surgery. After going to a seminar hearing the spill reading a reccomended book called "Why do we become fat?" By Gary Taubbs, seeing diabetic dr,dietian, surgeon and doing Internet searches I have come to believe my body type can't handle CARBS!! So I'm now on a low 20g carb diet for about 1 month and a half and my a1c is at a 5.8!! Now we're no longer talking injections I'm only on one does of meds instead of 3 doses. I have put the surgery on the back burner for now. I've been working out daily 5 times a week for 45 min strength and 30 min cardio but only till I changed my carb intake did the blood sugar and weight start really coming down. Just wanted to share how it's going for me. Wish you guys luck.
