Competition WODs

Thought you guys might appreciate this...

My box hosted a "Thanksgiving Throwdown Competition" last Saturday. It was the first competition I had ever been to (and competed in!) since starting CrossFit back in April. I was completely blown away by the whole experience.

The coaches did not announce the three WODs until the morning of - and even reserved explaining the Fourth WOD (that only the finalists would compete in) until the very end. Each of the three WODs were tough - but I really thought the 4th one was just incredible. The final explanation of it was: "...a WOD with 12 different events - all based on varied, real world or sport based movements (including agility ladder, football catching for coordination, baseball throwing, sled pull, car push, rope ascents, broad jump burps, low crawl with 80 lb sandbag) which all started with 1 minute battle ropes while getting sprayed in face with lots and lots of water."

I didnt get the opportunity to complete this WOD but, if you're interested, you can check out some of the incredible finalists who did.

Since this was my first experience with CrossFit competitions - Im curious what you guys think about this one. Have you seen stuff like this in competitions before? Or is it totally sadistic and insane?

(if you really care - you can check out the more details of the competition and how I placed here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/DarkAngellEyes/view/thanksgiving-throwdown-crossfit-competition-445311)

I watched the women's one. Probably what I found most interesting was the code that they had to remember. But then the video ended before they got to that part at the end. Did they remember it?

    Interesting challenges.

Yep - The girl who won (the one in pink) did remember the code. I think that part was from one of the coaches military/marine/SWAT style training backgrounds...

Good point about it being tough mudder-esque! Didnt think of it that way!
