Oh I wish it was an exaggeration. I actually thought the same thing about Americans. People are just losing any sort of empathy. They just don't care.

Given the reaction you are getting from everyone, I wouldn't blame an entire nation of peoples because a couple women are catty and stupid.

While the statement I made was within this particular thread .. I see it everywhere and not just directed at me. I, in general, mind my own business .. I don't talk to many people because I have learned not to. Obviously my experiences are limited to the area I live in and the people I am surrounded by .. but can my town be so different than any other town in America? Nope. Given other stories about other people across the country .. not much different.

People are cruel and selfish and nosey and b!tchy. Is everyone .. no. But .. do I really have to clarify that I believe an ENTIRE NATION of peoples lack empathy. That seems like a silly statement to make. But I also, didn't believe that a bunch of women who had once claimed to be my friend would be doing this either .. so apparently i am delusional.

That is exactly what I was thinking jules. it was literally like they were circling for the next piece of raw meat out there. Oy. I know that not everyone is like that .. but it is a lot more common than you would think.

I got up and left. What is wrong with these people??? Good lord.

women are pretty much socialized to gossip and work the rumor mill. what i usually do in those situations is steer the conversation to something else like asking them what they've been up to, something about whatever's going on around us at the time, etc.

if they still dont get the hint then i'll say something to the effect that i prefer to keep my conversations informative and positive. if they don;t get the hint after that then i leave the conversation and will sit somewhere else.

I hear stuff like this at my gym almost everyday. Women are very harsh towards other women. I hear the snide remarks about girls who lift. "OMG! She is lifting heavy weights! She's gonna get muscles and no man will want her!" or when a girl is losing weight. There's the bulimia/anorexic remarks. :noway:

I would never mix with them again. I have zero time or tolerance for people of that ilk.
