Ok so I have been feeling so great about these past couple weeks... I have been working out, eating right, and just feeling great about it!
My only concern is the upcoming holiday... THANKSGIVING!!
This year my husband and I are going to a friends house and I just know there are going to be tons of food... the type of food that calls your name and you resist the urge to call back!! Yup that kind!
What are your guys' plan for this upcoming event? Take the day off from eating healthy and working out then start new the next day? Portion control? Stick to certain foods? I would love to get your feedback and see how we all are going to face THANKSGIVING dum dum dum!! lol

I'm not going to worry about it. It's just one day, and I never pig out on Thanksgiving anyway. I'm going to enjoy the company of my boyfriend's family and have a good time instead of obsessing over calories and ignoring them to go for a walk after dinner. I can always eat at a deficit on Friday and Saturday if I feel bloated.
Think about it. I'd have to eat my entire calorie deficit plus an extra 3500 calories that day to gain even just one pound of fat. That's an extra 4500 calories above what I eat now, putting me at 6500 for the day. There is no way I'd ever be able to eat that much food without feeling sick. If anything, I'll probably eat around 3000, which is maintenance for me, which means no weight gain.
So, again, I'm not worried about it.
Since I had to adjust to low-carb, though, I'm definitely going to focus on turkey and veggies instead of mashed potatoes like I usually do. My boyfriend's father is diabetic, so I'll have a piece of sugar-free pie instead of regular. But that's it.0 -
Thank you! You know, you are right.. I guess the thing I am so concerned with is, I just started getting back into the swing of things and I am afraid of having a set back. But your right, I would have to eat and eat and eat myself into a coma for it to matter...0

Ah, the holidays - the bane of all who are trying to lose weight...
I'm going to be starting my day with the Buffalo Turkey Trot - that way I can start the day off right (fast walking for me, I really can't run that far) with what will be about 500 cals burned. Hopefully I won't go too crazy at the post-race party!
Beyond that, it's all about portion control. There's a place for yummy appies, carbs, and desserts, but dedicate most of the plate to turkey and veggies, and it won't be so bad.
And...it's only one day. Thanksgiving is a time to rejoice in the good things in life, so let it be a guilt-free day!0 -
I refuse to worry about it! Since I plan on working out that morning and I am the one preparing most of the food...I know I will be just fine. Plus, it is just one day and I could never eat enough of it to cause me any long term issues.
If you need to, take a look at what food they have and pick the 3-4 you REALY want. Then, have a sensible portion and load up on fruis and veggies. And, bring your own fruit/veggie tray to share so you know it is at least there! This way, you can enjoy soe of the "FUN" fods while still easting right!0 -
Awesome advice guys!! Thank you so much!!0

Hi all!
Im new to the group and cannot wait to get some results. I have been doing zumba 6 days a week, with some cardio kickboxing/zumba (zumbox) thrown in there too, for about 9 months, with minimal weight loss. I am looking forward to really figuring out how to get this weight off! I just got a MIO heart rate monitor, anyone have any big results by using that and linking my fitness pal?
Excited to make some connections on here!

Welcome Laura!! This group is awesome! First of all let me say this... YOU GO GIRL!! working out 6 days a week that is awesome!!
I have never used a MIO , but I have switched up my weight loss tatics! I use to conentrate mainly on cardio and now I added weightlifting ... I was a little hesitant at first because in my mind cardio was the only way to lose weight.. boy was I wrong! Judging by all the success of my fellow "my fitness pal" pals weightlifting has contributed to much of their weightloss! I am excited to feel stronger and see some results.. 5 more weeks to go!!0
