This will be my first Thanksgiving (or any holiday that revolves around FOOD) since I had my bypass. How do you all handle it? Do you take one small bite of everything? HELP.

This will be my first also, and I plan on eating the same as I do every day. I'll have my usual portion of ham or turkey, and then if I have room, a little veggie or potato. Same as usual, protein first. The only difference will be the setting. I really couldn't eat any more, or different, even if I wanted to. My surgery was 8/21/12.

My surgery was a week before yours. I am thinking the same thing...protein first which would be turkey and ham. I will stay away from the sweet potato casserole and pies.

Sometimes for a snack I have sugar free fat free pudding, with some protein powder mixed in. It's a good snack to get extra protein. Once in a while I'll have a couple tablespoons of the fat free cool whip on top. I think for a dessert treat, I'm going to try one of the mini graham cracker crust pie shells (110 cals) with some of the SFFF pudding/protein powder/SFFF cool whip. It is the same as what I have had before, with the addition of the mini pie shell. I figure for a holiday, I can add the extra 110 cals.

I found a recipe for pumpkin pie with Splenda. I think a 1/2 piece for dessert will be ok. I know I couldn't possibly eat more than 1/2 piece. I am making it tonight....and will have 1/2 piece tonight too.
