Insanity question

I just started Insanity on Monday. I am still torn to whether I am going to do the whole thing as written, do the first month as written and then go P90x/Insanity hybrid in the second month, or start a modified hybrid today where it is mostly Insanity in the first month. I have been doing the strength workouts from p90x since June so I am really worried about losing the progress I made in the strength department. So far, I see there are plenty of push-ups and my legs are on fire, so really I just need to add in a Back and Bi workout and it would probably be fine for keeping most of my strength. I heard Cardio Recovery is basically a lower body workout without the high intensity cardio so I was contemplating dropping p90x Back and Bis in it's place for the first month and see if that keeps me going. My goal is to keep most of my strength but really increase my cardio and fat burn. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Do the first week as is so you know the basic program. If you *want* to sub a p90x workout for the cardio recovery, I think it'd be totally fine as long as you were able to come back and do 3 Insanity workouts in a row the next 3 days after.

As for month 2, there is NO WAY I could incorporate additional workouts. Again, you can sub a strength workout for the max recovery (I hate that one anyways) and maybe do 5 days of p90x on your recovery week.

Other than that, I totally wouldn't worry about it. My husband did Insanity first (except he literally hadn't worked out for 5 years once he started) and his muscles are noticeably bigger STILL after finishing in August.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on doing additional workouts, but subbing some here and there. Like you suggested, I was thinking about subbing out the recovery ones for some upper body work since my lower body could probably use a break anyway. Maybe you are right and I should try the recovery one this week. I am just so worried about losing my progress with pull ups! On week 1 of p90x I was only able to do 15 unassisted pullups total for the whole workout. By the end of the 90 days, I did 52 unassisted for that same workout. I don't want to lose that! =)

You may initially have some strength loss BUT you should be quite a bit lighter after the two months and I'm sure you'll get back to your current strength within a couple of weeks.
