Hello everyone,
I just started training for my 5K on Feb 9th. I want to do the Spartan Sprint in Indiana in April so I will be using the 5K to up my fitness level to the point where I will be able to focus on the strength and agility portions of my training while maintaining my endurance with the 5K.
I am looking for a good workout program that will prep me for the Spartan Sprint. I haven't found much out there. The ones that they do show their workouts, they are using terminology that I am not familiar with. So at bare minimum I need some explanation of the exercises.
I am a beginner, willing to give it 110% Just need someone to point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Jeff

You can sign up for the Workouts of the Day on the Spartan website. If you don't know how to do an exercise, type the name of it into YouTube and I guarantee there will be an instructional video on how to do anything.
At the very least, try to get in some trail running and practice your burpees. There's a 30 burpee penalty for any obstacle you cannot complete so you want to be prepared, just in case, and running a 5k on pavement and on rocky terrain are two very different things.
Best of luck! Obstacle course races are great! I'm hoping to be healed enough to run my first Spartan Sprint in February.0 -
Ditto the Spartan WODs. Tough Mudder also has some really good workouts. My biggest struggles are with the upper body strength obstacles, so that's what I focus on with training now, in addition to cardio.0

While not specifically for obstacle courses, trainingpeaks does have some adventure plans that would work well for you. Would greatly help if you decide to go on to larger races as well. After the bug bites you
