I thought I would start a thread to see who else is running the Polar Dash (since there have already been threads for other races including yesterdays 5k and the Get Lucky race in March). I know at least a few of you are planning on running January 1st.
If you will be racing, which distance are you choosing (5k, 10k and half marathon are the options)?
I am running the 10k.

Too cold for this wimpy runner0

That's what I thought until I started running outside in the cold weather over the past few weeks. Based on my first 5k race yesterday once you get moving you warm up pretty quick. There were actually quite a few people (not me) wearing shorts yesterday at the Moustache Run!0

I've been wanting too, just not sure I'm there yet. My running is really up and down. Some days I have it, some I just flat out don't.0

I am really considering it... i am so sporadic on my running still and with winter it is only making it worse BUT i am signed up for the Get Lucky Half so It wouldn't hurt to get a 5k or 10k under my belt in Jan. I am a bit worried about the cold but know that i really do run better in the colder temps... my biggest problem/worry is ice more than temp.0

I agree with you on the ice vs temp issue, but decided not to worry about what is out of my control.
Somebody else in this group pointed out that if you are already running several Team Ortho races next year (you mentioned Get Lucky) their buy 4 get 1 free package can save you some money.
By the way I also plan on running in the Get Lucky Half (my first half marathon) in March0 -
Its not too late to sign up everyone! This will be my first race with snow/ice on the ground. Living in MN its time that we all get used to running in the winter!0

Thanks I am looking forward to it. I did not run at all for about a week over the holidays because my knee felt strange but I think I should be god to go by Jan 1st!0

Despite the -5 degree temp this morning at 9am I had a blast! This is definitely an event I will plan on running again next year (although perhaps the half marathon instead of the 10k)0
