Nausea and Vomiting - Third Trimester?

During my first trimester I had some morning sickness but it wasn't awful. Some days were worse than others. I am 29 weeks tomorrow and was up all night last night with stomach pain and nausea. I took a Pepcid and it calmed down a little bit, but now I am so nauseated I don't know how I am going to make it through work today. I was only able to stuff down a couple bites of my breakfast and feel like I am either going to pass out or throw up (or both). When I get acid reflux it's atypical, I don't get heartburn but I do get a stomach ache and a bit nauseous. This, however, has been going on for hours. I'm just trying to drink water and relax but it's hard when I have to work. Does anyone else have experience with this? I don't even remember feeling this bad EVER during my first trimester... it almost feels like food poisoning.

Edited to say that if it IS food poisoning I'd be totally shocked.

Honestly , I do not think it is pregnancy related. Go to a Doctor! It is food poisoning, stomach flu or other viral infection

    I agree.

Take your temperature and chug ice cold water as much as you can. Pregnancy makes you much more susceptible to dehydration from being sick.

Go talk to you doc ASAP.

I'm starting to think the same thing since it isn't getting better. Thanks for the advice, I can actually e-mail my OB/GYN and he'll get back to me today, so that's what I did. I wish I could just go home and sleep!

I think you should go home and go to sleep! The stomach flu has been making the rounds for a while. I already had it once, then my husband got it, and he just came down with it again today. It could be that. Rest assured that if it is, it's viral, and it will affect your gastrointestinal system but not affect the baby. The only thing you need to watch out for, as P-Rex said, is dehydration. I don't care if you throw up water, you need to chug it as much as you can so that your body can absorb the max amount before you get sick again, if you get sick again.

Anyway, I hope your OB gets back to you soon and that you can get home and rest. I also hope you feel better ASAP!!!

I got a really nasty case of food poisoning early in my pregnancy. The midwife said when you get sick while pregnant its about twice as bad. I was so sick for two days. puked all day the first day then the second day the other end fellt it needed a turn. I literally thought i was dying. Also not sure what you ate the other day but i know that chicken can cause food poisoning very easily in pregnant women. Something about even if the temp is 1 degree below what it should be it will make you sick

I would call the doctor and see if they can get you in today to check you out for dehydration

The nurse just called me and I told her what's going on. She said it sounds viral and to stay hydrated and try to drink some Gatorade. She said if the vomiting gets too bad then to go to Urgent Care so they can give me IV fluids.

Interesting about the chicken Jaime, I didn't know that! I did have a salad last night with chicken and it's the last thing I ate before I got sick... ugh.

I'm feeling a little better now but we'll see how the day goes! Urgent Care is in my parking lot so at least if I have to go it's close. Thanks for all the help ladies!
