party food

As I fight my way through the party food trying to find my usual list I am wondering why so much of it is beige, sweet and fatty. If we love our friends and family why do we give them stuff like this? Is it really "a treat"? I am thinking of the old TV prog "Honey we're killing the Kids" when I look in trollies and see this stuff. Just wondering what other mfp members think?

Because most people like it, just look at a buffet and what is left are the salad bits & some soggy quiche

The beige sausage rolls went long since, followed by the bright pink reformed fish stick things

Gross, i went to a buffet last week and realised that i couldn't eat it, gross white bread with butter and some kind of beige mayo filled sandwich made my tummy turn. There were no tomato or salad in sight I had to ask for a sandwich without butter and rubbish inside. Wish i got the same reaction to cake! Sadly not eventhough i know its full of junk too.
