going to be in the area this weekend- any stops that should not be missed? Any restaurant suggestions would be great too- have 2 small children and 6 adults and 1 teenager (FES) with our group...

Oooo i <3 Leavenworth! i'm there nearly every weekend in the summer camping, biking, hiking, etc. What kind of stuff are you interested in? I know leavenworth has an ice fest each winter, also if theres enough snow (which i'm thinking there should be) you can go sledding right in town! For more adventure there is a community ski hill maybe 2 miles from main street and they have a huge sled hill there as well where they pull you up the hill like a rope tow for skiiing and then send you down the groomed sled hill. The baren house has some really good food (pizza pasta etc). The silly hat store is always a fun family destination. There is an impressive nut cracker museum right down town as well, i think its only $2 to get it but it takes the right audience. There is a petting zoo near peshastin on your way to wenatchee but not sure how much there is to do there in the snow, in the summer they have a large play field w/ toys for kids and tractor rides in addition to feeding the animals. Mission ridge ski resort is right up the hill from Wenatchee and theres also stevens ski resort on your way over US2. Wenatchee is like any other large town and has all the luxuries of fast food and chain restraunts if the joints in Leavenworth are a bit out of your price range.
    Hope this helps!

Oh and if you take US2 over stevens pass to get to Leavenworth check out the bigfoot coffee stand as you head up the pass, its just a little place but has a big wooden bigfoot statue and the building there was in the movie Henry and the Hendersons, pretty cool :)

we came from the East side of the state, so didn't see the bigfoot statue.

We did eat at the Beren Haus (I think) on the 8th - had a schnitzel there- the schnitzel was good, but the spaetzle at home is better- there's a restaurant in Spokane called Das Stein Haus that makes homemade spaetzle that is AWESOME!!

our stay included breakfast in Wenatchee, so that was covered. We did find a cool little place across from the hotel - and their hamburgers were awesome!!!

    thanks for the suggestions!
