So it's been raining here for 2 days and I expect it to continue through tomorrow until Monday when it starts snowing. What do you guys wear for rain runs? basically, I don't want to be wet. period. Like at all. A little on my face is ok...but idw it dripping off a rain coat onto my knees, kicking up on the back of my pants from my heels...idw wet hair. I want to be as dry as possible when I get home. Is this wishful thinking? As in,. the only way i'm gonna be dry is if i don't go? lol

If it was warm outside, I wouldn't care so much. but 40 degrees and wet is far too cold for me. A friend of mine told me the other day that "rain runs are the best!" and i thought, sure, in June.

Id say try going to a specialized running store. They'd help you. I run under any condition and I do understand your plight. I have running under armor that 'repels' water so that you don't get cold as quickly if you werent wearing it. Also, a running cap would be good as well since they keep in heat on cold runs. You tend to loose heat from your head so a tight fitting running cap would help. I also have running socks that also 'repels' water as well as there are sprays out there that you can put on your sneakers that also 'repels' water. If you dont have a running friend to go to the store with to get these stuff, it is just best to get it at a specialized running store. And, if the store owners and attendants arent runners (i.e. not as enthusiatic or dont have the running look) get the hell out of there!
  • I'd say if you don't want to get wet find a treadmill.
I lived in an area where rain was in the forecast 90 percent of the time, so I got over it and learned to enjoy rainy runs, I find as long as my shoulders stay dry I am fine, even when its chilly. Wearing gloves would help you feel warmer too even if you do get a tad wet.
But if you really want to try to run in the rain without getting wet look for waterproof/water repellant gear, a fitted hooded jacket would probably be a good option, keeps dripping to a minimum but will keep your head warm and dry, when running avoid obvious puddles, that will keep your rear drier than if you didn't, but you can't really avoid splashing when its really raining. There are probably water repellant pants, but you'll have to spend lots of $$$. Good luck with your quest.

Thanks, guys. It's not so much the temperature that bothers me. I run (at night, even) on much much colder days and it doesn't bother me. But the combination of wet and chilly is not my favorite thing. Dry wear shouldn't cost so much!
