But this thread in general has me wishing that there were a better way to network through this group to meet potential matches in real life. :ohwell:
Agreed!
^^^OMG Yes!
I know, but I wish the odds were higher!0 -
Ha... Men aren't afraid of commitment... they are afraid of losing half of everything they own.
Sorry I've been so cynical the last two days... I think I've had my man-period for about a week now.
I'm bleeding out here
Here's the facts...
Approximately 45% of all marriages end in divorce. 70% of all applications for divorce are filed by women.
According to my calculations therefore... (45% + 70% = 115%)... 115% of all marriages end in divorce because of women.
And you wonder why men are afraid of commitment?!?!?
Don't shoot the messenger.
This math is beautiful!!
You could add to this that half way through the marriage the women will reevaluate her life, decide you are not good enough, and try to change you until you become one of the 30% of guys that files.0 -

Sorry hun... the M word people run. Men AND women. People say they want commitment, but really want only the kind of "commitment" that comes with being able to walk away scot-free if they change their mind.
No one wants to be stuck with some woman who gets fat/lets herself go, turns into a raging nag, won't let him watch football with the guys, and stops having hot sex because "now we're married and you have to love me the way that I am." No one reading this is that woman, but when you say "marriage" that's what people think.

I've read the men are more likely to cheat on women... so maybe that 70% of women who are filing for divorce, are filing for a LEGIT reason, possibly due to a cheating hubby?0

My personal opinion is these days I think it's pretty close to 50-50 as far as cheating goes. I also think there needs to be some changes in the fairness of the divorce process. I hate seeing guys get pulled through the ringer in court (especially if no kids are involved). Divide up half the personal effects and go your seperate ways ie) no alimony, pension grabs, expenses, etc0 -

I agree with the unfairness of the divorce process. This unfairness scares a lot of men away from ever getting married in the first place.
As a guy, you have to be smart about it. Never marry way below your income class. Alimony is mostly determined by the income differential between the two partners. So if you are a wealthy doctor, marry someone who's in the same league as you. This is why you rarely see celebrities marry nobody's.0 -

Divorce is really bad for men.
But at the same time, if you are a never married man after a certain age, women think you are damaged goods.
Seems like you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.
It is times like these when I really admire my uncle for getting married at 22 and having it stick for 40+ years and counting.0 -
Sounds like you've been out of the dating game for a while.. my advice, don't bring this stuff up in the beginning, take it easy, if it's meant to be it will happen0
