Sorry..newcomer**
Hi everyone! I'm trying to make this place more active, meet more people like me. I have SLE and might also have Discoid Lupus according to my rheumy
I was diagnosed at the age of 13. I had to get the steroids and the plaquenil..you know, the works. I went off the plaquenil a year later..testing the waters without my meds with the approval of my rheumy. He then moved and I was left without a rheumy for 6 or so years.
Of course I would flare up, not being on anything. I went to many hospitals and tried to find a new rheumy. Went through the weight loss, searing joint pain(new symptom). My new rheumy placed me back on the prednisone(hate and loved it) and my lovely plaquenil<3(So glad im back on it).
So now I'm back to normal! Or you know...as normal as a lupus patient can be
Luckily I didn't gain weight while on the prednisone! Now I'm trying to lose weight without putting much stress on my body..because we all know where that will get us.

Hi there...Its always good to read about and see other people that have Lupus. I'm glad to hear you are doing better (as good as us with Lupus can be) and back on your regimen (Good ole steroids and Plaquenil) . Seems like you and I are on here for the same reason. I feel that losing weight will help with these crazy flares and the joint pain (just started experiencing that lately). Oh and a new coat wouldn't hurt either.
Your 40 pound weigh loss is AWESOME I cant wait to get to that point. Keep up the good work.

Agreed, makes you feel not so alone in the battle against our own bodies.
Thank you for recognizing my achievements so far. Honestly, the weight loss has help a lot when coping with flare ups. Being heavy puts more stress on our joints.
Your 20lb achievement is also so awesome! Before you know it you will fly past that 40lb marker, won't even see it coming
You keep up the good work as well and good luck with your flares0 -
Hey ppl Im all for helping to make this more active. I was diagnosed at 19, am now 27, and as all of you, have struggled with meds, weight gain etc. I was on Methotrexate (mild chemo) for a few years but came off as I am ttc. IT has been a difficult battle off the meds but its more or less ok now. today is a bad day. it stopped me going to the gym, made me in a bad mood, made me eat etc.
the pain in my joints is horrendous, but us lupies learn how to grin and bear pain and pretend all is good.
Do any of you have tips as to how to keep up the fitness levels when having a flare up?
Thanks,
Rachel,

I've heard it's not wise to keep up the exercise while flaring. Going through a flare the most important thing is to get your body as much rest as possible.
I would exercise in between flares.
Another thing you could do, which is probably the best thing, is to confront your specialist on your exercise routine. Ask what the best thing to do is.0
