Sewing your jeans smaller?

http://boredandcrafty.com/?p=2610

I found this post and it looked interesting. Has anyone here tried this? I'm curious to know whether it works.

Monica

P.S. I found this link that shows how to alter the waistline.

I couldnt get to the link, but thank you, it brought back memories. When I was a pre-teen I had a hard time fitting into jeans. I was in the chunky section, but they just never fit right. My dear sweet Gramma would measure me and sew them perfectly. I never had such nice jeans. Funny her stitching out lasted the jeans.

Weird. Did you try copying and pasting? I just tested it and both do work. I don't know if they make links active on this site. You may have missed a letter in your copy and paste. I'd try again (unless you're at work - they may have blocked you).

The site even has pictures of how to do it.

I do this already, lol. In order to fit my butt and thighs, I had to get a bigger waist so I always have done alterations on all my clothes, tops included. Plus sized tops had no shape so I would give it some. Sucks that you pay so much for them already, only to have to work on them some more but it does ensure you get a good fit.

mind you now... I don't wear plus size anymore!!! =)

    Thnaks for the post!
  • I tried that after watching a utube tute, but I stabbed myself bad in the leg with
a pin, when i had to try them on for fitting-inside out. OUCH. Don't wanna do that.
I decided to keep them and make cutoffs for summer if i can keep the waist up
with a belt and maybe a tad stitching.
  • What size are you at now whataBroad? Thumbs up on your lost pounds/sizes.

So glad you posted this. My pants are loose, but I don't want to buy new just yet. I have a sewing machine, but I guess I don't have have a sewist's mindset. This is going to be a project I'll tackle over the holidays.
  • This is great!! thanks for posting it! I'm excited to try this!
