I have a question about waistlines.

I'm about 5' 10" and currently 147 lbs. I'm well within the healthy range for my height, but I'd like to shape up a bit, and my goal is about 135 lbs (still within a healthy range). I'm wondering whether anyone has any idea how many inches I can realistically expect to lose from my waist if I shed these last few pounds, especially since I'm at a healthy weight now and store so little fat on my belly.

That is all!

It varies widely and depends on many things including:

Genetics: I'm one of those people who keeps all their weight in their *kitten* and that's about it. No matter how much weight I lose, I'll still have a hard time fitting into jeans because my butt is so much bigger then my waist (10 inches larger). Some people have naturally thick thighs and carry their weight there. Same goes for waist lines.

How your losing the weight: People can lose inches from their bodies without losing any weight when they're weight training. If you're doing it by eating less and less, then chances are if your body likes to carry your weight there you're not going to see a whole lot of difference as you're not maintaining muscle mass so you're likely to lose more muscle then you would if you were lifting while losing weight.

lifestyle: If we have double of the same 5'7 120lb girl, and one is active and one is sedentary, the active one will be the same weight but thinner. She'll also be able to eat more and maintain her weight.
