Bridal Party

After a ton of discussion and back and forth, we've decided not to have a bridal party. I know I need someone to sign the marriage certificate. I've broken it to my close friends who think all think this is a great idea. No money wasted on dresses, no drama, not fighting, etc.
My mom and grandma however, did not like the idea. The words my mom used were, "Well, that's just stupid!"
My grandma raged about how I have a sister and she should be a bridesmaid.
Of course, this isn't the first thing regarding the wedding she thinks is stupid - she doesn't like the time, she doesn't like the place, she doesn't like the food stations, blah blah blah. She's not paying for the wedding itself so I'm tuning her out.
Anyone else out there not having a bridal party? If so, why not?

I am having a bigger bridal party than I ever thought I would but that is not to say that I think you should have one. You should have exactly what you want, no less no more. It's really not a big deal.0
