Hi! I'm 9 weeks pregnant and all my pants are already getting too tight. I'm wondering if I'm just eating too much or if baby is really starting to show already? When do you all start to notice your baby bump??

I bloated up FAST and was in maternity clothes at 8 weeks.

A lot of the early gain is fluid weight and retention from the hormone surge. Every woman is different though. Some will get that early gain and some won't.

It is so different for everyone. You tend to show later with your first pregnancy and earlier with subsequent ones. I showed quite late the first time, but I was rather overweight. This time I started out much lighter, and I couldn't wear my normal jeans by 7 or 8 weeks. By 13 or 14 weeks I was wearing some old, bigger clothes, and finally by 16 weeks even clothes that would have otherwise been too big pressed in on my stomach too much when I sat down. At that point I moved into maternity clothes. I am 18.5 weeks now and am so comfy in them!

Anyway, additional eating, water weight, and hormones all play a role. Not fitting into your clothes at 9 weeks is pretty normal, even for a first pregnancy!

It started getting obvious if you were looking around 11 weeks or so, but this is my second pregnancy.

ETA last line, since I forgot to answer that.

Don't stress about the weight gain. Just focus on eating well, exercising, and taking good care of yourself. Sometimes women gain more than they are aiming for, but in the end, almost all of it comes off almost immediately after birth as long as you're taking care of yourself along the way. Even if it doesn't all come off immediately, you CAN lose it. It's not there forever unless you want it to be. Just be patient and take care of yourself and your baby.

It depends on height, weight, build, how many kids you have had. Even if you are in maternity clothes, it won't necessarily be obvious to others for quite a while yet. I am 18 weeks with my third and I have been in maternity clothes for about 9 weeks now. People are just now starting to notice the bump. A friend of mine is much taller but extremely thin and people started commenting to her around 15 weeks. It just depends. You'll notice it long before others.

Bump for later. I'm 21 weeks and still not showing. This is my fourth pregnancy and by now I should obviously look pregnant since I lost all the weight I thought I would be showing much more then the past pregnancies.
