Lower back pain

Hi ladies,

I'm almost 33 weeks (will be 33 weeks tomorrow), and I'm starting to have a lot of lower back discomfort. It's not early labor, and the pain is localized above my tailbone, but it's making things difficult as I can no longer bend over enough to pickup things off the floor and squatting has become rather uncomfortable. The muscle around that spot in my back has been sore for almost a week.

Are there any exercises or treatments you have used to help with this? I'm thinking of going to see a chiropractor if it doesn't start getting better.

My back really started hurting around 30 weeks.

I swam three times a week - that helped a lot. At the end I would put my legs up on the edge of the pool and hang my butt down. My mom called it "hanging like a bat". She'd call me and ask if I wanted to go hang like a bat :)

I did prenatal yoga and the following day my back would feel good. I also slept great that night.

My lower back still hurts and the pain centers around my sciatic nerve which gets pinched occasionally. To relieve that pain, I see a chiropractor. For just muscle aches/pain, I've been told to invest in a belly support belt to help take some of the pressure off your back from all the weight you're carrying in the front. Wear while you're out and about for support and leave it off at home when relaxing. Also, try alternating 20 mins w/ice then 1 hour nothing. Many times I find that helps more than heat.
