Breaking up with carbs

I am addicted to carbs - the simple ones especially that also have other things I don't need, but are so readily available. I know what I need to do: clean house, but would love some advice on how others hve kicked the carb habit - especially the withdrawl. I've tried quiting cold turkey a few times but the cravings are intense. Thank you!

I am coming to the realization that I am going to have to tackle this again as I have gained about 5-7 lbs over the last few months and I am sure much of it is due to my failure to manage my carb cravings.
I also had back surgery and was inactiv,e so that has also contributed to the weight gain. But, I am not willing to let it get further out of control, so I have just come back to this site after trying it a few months without tracking my intake.
I am starting to cook more Paleo recipes which are more protein based. Hoping to train my body and craving to desire protein and fresh veggies/fruits and start cutting down on carbs including sugar-free foods, artificial sweetners, etc. as I feel they keep me wanting sweet things.
I have also done the 5 day pouch test in the past, and that has helped me cut carb cravings. I may try that again if the current changes I am making do not bring the recults I am looking for.0 -
Carbs are the devil!!! Lol. I have been trying to keep my carbs below 50gm/day to lose weight. But on the days that I have more, I suffer from such hunger and feel like I'm on the prowl for anything carby. I'm only 4 months out from having DS and hope to keep carbs at a minimum for at least the first 6-9 months. I worry that if I don't make the most out of the "honeymoon" phase after wls, I'll not be able to take full advantage of this tool and not come even close to goal weight. It's so hard to limit carbs as they seem to be in so many foods. Often they are hidden, very sneaky. If I wasn't tracking my food on MFP, I'm sure I'd have far less success. Best of luck managing your carb intake!!0
