Online dating - Favorited but no message

Ok, so I thought I had a pretty good understanding of online dating, but trying to figure this one out. Ladies, maybe you can shed some light.

So on POF, I randomly got added as a favorite by 2 different women within about a week. I took this as a, "Hey, I saw your profile and liked it, so you should message me". Well I messaged one of them, as the other didn't appeal to me.

After about a week, have heard no response back, yet still on her favorite list. Was I incorrect on the motive of randomly adding someone as a favorite without any kind of message?

For me personally, I don't use the favorite option, I just message and bookmark a page if I want to refer back to it.

I have no clue as I also get random's favoriting me but not saying anything.

I don't think you were incorrect... But I do think it's very strange for a girl to do that. Maybe it was an accident? I don't know... When I used that site, I never did the favorite thing, either.

It is possible...I have found anything is possible when you refer to online dating. Not holding my breath, was just curious more on the adding as a favorite with no message.

Happened to me before. Some chick saved me as a favorite and when I emailed her, she didn't respond. She *still* has me listed as a favorite too. lol

Makes no sense, I agree. Same with the "meet me" feature on POF. You want to meet me from liking my pics (I understand it's based on pics, didn't really take time to read profile) so hey, I think you're cute too & send a message. No answer. WHY?!? Pics are the same from before?? I don't get it. Probably never will. LOL :ohwell:

If he does email, I'll make sure to email him back. It could be possible that she hasn't been on there in the last week. It's a busy time of year, she could be traveling or just decided to take a break. I'd leave it alone. If she responds later, take it from there.

You were right in assuming that she's interested. Why she hasn't followed up is anyone's guess. Maybe she met someone and is now off the market........

Used to happen to me all the time when I was on POF. Lucky for me (or unlucky?), the guys who favorited me were generally not guys I'd be interested in. I learned that I just had to ignore that because I got favorited all the time without a message. Weird. I assume they like what they see so decide to favorite. As far as not replying, I don't know. Maybe pursuing someone else?

This does remind me though, do any of you ever use the "Meet me" feature on PoF? That one is just based on looks as far as I can tell, right?

You can go look at their profile with meet me. I never mark yes unless I read their profile but I am guessing some go off just your main picture.

I used to favorite people if there was something wacky or funny on a profile that I wanted to use for my blog. I didn't realize it NOTIFIED them instantly! I thought that was a feature you had to turn on. That was an awkward week.

Had it happen a few times so I asked them.

Some do it because they like my profile and didn't want to have to jot down my username to find me later.

One guy used it as a bookmark to play with his one eyed snake with my photo.

Some of them didn't realize it sent the notificiation.

One said "Well it got you to message me" and I was like....seriously dude, send me a message. But I guess he was right, if he would have just said hi I probably would have passed on him.

I don't do anything with them honestly.

I get favorited or 'XYZ wants to meet you' and I never heard from any of them.
I don't go look at their profiles either.

POF is a hard site. I have had much more dates arise from EHarmony.

Lol...Funny story about Eharmony. It said it could not match me! Destined to be alone I guess...

For a psych class in college, we had to fill out the Eharmony profile questions (which I recall there were a ton of). At the end, it said that Eharmony couldn't match me, but best of luck. That was it. We had a hell of a laugh about it in class. My guess is that it determined my personality type and it must be a hard one to match.
