Taking it slow

From all the research and advice I have gotten on here. I am going to stick to a couple goals at a time. That way I don't get overwhelmed and give up.

Here is a blog with some tips.

I'm with you on that one. I am going to start drinking water, and oh how I don't like water. I am constantly dehydrated, I have just about given up pop, but then I just don't drink anything! lol, not cool

LOL I am the same way. But proud to say yesterday I drank 3 bottles of water. and on my second today!!
    No pop in 2 days
  • I'm tring to take it slow as well, ut I'll admit that it's really hard for me. when I lost weight before it was extremely quick 100 lbs in eight months. My body refuses to lose like that anymore. How do you all keep from getting impatient with the slow weight loss?

I don't know. Cause yeah, I am having trouble too. Until I just got some more to eat i was about 1100 short of my goal calories.
& to be honesty I wanted to make myself not eat so I could see good numbers tomorrow.

But I did eat some more. 400 under goal now. :)

Slow frustrates me too. Right now even losing 20 pounds doesn't seem all that great. BUT the thing I have to keep telling myself is that it is more important to make good habits and lifestyle changes than it is to see the number on the scale go down. The first time I lost a significant amount of weight it was doing low-carb, which worked great-until I started eating carbs again; I couldn't maintain it. The second time I lost a lot of weight it was with weight watchers and was reasonable weight loss rate but honestly I didn't really make "life-style" changes. And as soon as I got pregnant it was a free for all which led to gaining all of it back. So if I lose really slow, but it actually sticks this time I guess it will be worth it.

You could try setting some mini goals and rewards, like every 10 pounds you get a non. Food treat, like nails or hair done.

Also set a weekly goal so you can feel like you have accomplished something, mine this week is no chocolate.

And make sure you take your measurements! Your weightloss might be slow but you could be loosing inches. Remember weight is also affected by hormones and salt.

I have a group you can join that sets a weekly and monthly goal to aim for

My first two goals (I made with the dietician):

    1. Replace Pepsi with water (limit of 1 Pepsi a week)
    2. Walk a mile at least 4 days a week.

I'm taking it slow, but get mad because I don't lose anything. I believe that when we give up, but this time I don't plan in giving up. Those little numbers add up. And when we lose slowly then we are less likely to gain it back.
  • That is my way of thinking this time. I am finding that small goals are better walking 15 min. That is all I can do right now. But it is better than sitting in a recliner
