You too! Our homily was excellent today. Father said that the Jews, who had been awaiting the coming of the king for years and years, praying and preparing, did not even recognize him until the magi who were not studying religion but were astrologists instead, came to them asking about the newborn king of the land of Judea. It was not until then that the chief priests remembered the scriptures. Even then, they felt threatened instead of thrilled. The had all the info they needed but were so caught up in themselves that they did not even notice the event they had been waiting for. Then he said, as Catholics, as Christians, we have everything we need to live a Godly life. We have the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We have all the things we need. Are we too caught up in our own lives to live as Christians? Do our lives represent the Word and the communion with Jesus?

That was a great sermon. Our priest focused on the magi being gentiles and how salvation was opened to the gentiles. How we have a personal relationship with Christ, but we are called as a people; the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist that we celebrate together nourish us. I forget how he tied it all together, but it made a lot more sense when he said it than my rambling recap...
