I am a 31 married mother of a 10 week old little boy. My husband and I have decided to go mostly vegan after the last year of trying to do a vegetarian/ethically raised meat diet. We've decided that we cannot ignore the health and moral risks of the animal husbandry world any longer. We are lucky to live in the country where we have plenty of options for fresh, local produce. I'm here looking for support to provide healthy food for my family.

welcome!!! ask any questions u might have as they come up--you can do it!!!
I notice u mention a desire to go "mostly vegan"...are there some aspects of veganism that seem not-doable?
personally, I have found totally going vegan so much easier than trying to take little breaks or make excpetions. but then, i am a very black and white person, which doesn't work for everyone.0 -

I went with "mostly-vegan" because I don't know enough to be honest! I figure I'll make a couple of slip-ups without knowing. We're also a little cash-poor so any sunk money, i.e. already purchased items, we'll be working through in the mean-time. I already own leather shoes, we have a number of products that are not vegan currently in our house. As time goes on and we donate/replace/consume the items which are unethical then we'll replace with vegan. Once we're fully changed over then I don't feel bad about dropping the "mostly" from the front. I just didn't want to represent myself as being fully-vegan until we'd completely made the switch!0 -
welcome! congrats on the switch and on your new baby! I also have some items that are not vegan but to get rid of them would be wasteful...my winter boots for instance...I need them (live in NH) they are in perfect shape and they happen to be leather I bought them when I was an omnivore. I am not throwing them away. Ill wear them until they fall apart( most likely YEARS from now) and not feel bad as wasting something is worse in my opinion. It's an individual choice. I still call myself a vegan. Our lives are made a lot more difficult (yet rewarding) by making this choice and sometimes you have to let yourself be ok with a not perfect practice.
I'm friending you0
