I hope most of you are aware of C25K (couch to 5 kilometers) plan/application. I was wondering if someone is going to start using it recently. I am planning to start C25K in a day or two and it will be great to have some buddies to follow up on that.

It is an excellent program and if done properly for a couple of months should produce great results. Any takers?

    Hi Umer,

I've just started week 2 of the programme, so always looking for buddies. I like the idea of the programme, but i really dislike running, don't enjoy it in any way so find it really hard to do. I'm hoping that this will help build my endurance and work on my weight loss.

Although, i've started the workout twice today and abandoned it both times, because i'm just not feeling into it, and my knees are a little sore after 30DS this morning. I am listening to my body though and i think its telling me that c25k today might be a step too far.

You know 30 DS is the culprit here. I have seen many other people having knee pains after that and me and my wife also experienced the same sort of pain either in legs or knees. I like 30DS but it is little tough for the beginners.

Well you can take rest from one of the programs and this should help you. I thought you were a boot camp girl  and must have great stamina by now.

I will be starting it soon - maybe as soon as tomorrow (today is Zumba). I have a 5K in April, and although I've done several 5K's, I've never run a full one (my best time was 38 mins and that was about 4 years ago).

yeah i do love bootcamp - new classes start on saturday morning, but i won't go this week. i like to have lots of different programmes on the go, but i feel i never actually finish one, so i'd like to finish 30ds and c25k. maybe i should do them on alternate days?

Its the jumping jacks/jump rope thats really killing me :( other than those, i love it.

would be great to have a group of c25k'ers all together though.

Is there a specific date/week that we will be starting? Or should we just start it and post our progress with it?

C25K is a great program and ther are some free apps out there that help. I did it a few years ago....while I was never able to run a full 5k, I was up to 2 miles. I wanted to be able to run so bad, but it really isn't my thing. I don't love running and the runner's high people talk about, well, I never got that. I think the key to exercise and weight loss is finding something you enjoy, since you will be more likely to stick with it. I hope this works for you and you have great success. Good luck and happy running!

I've been wanting to start it and see if I like it, and if my knee will handle it. I'll give it a go starting the 10th too!

I completed week 2. I won't be able to run much this week, so I'll fall behind and do week 3 next week.
I did it in the past and got to week 7, but then got pregnant, so I restarted it now.

As agreed tomorrow we will start C25K and below is the list of friends willing to start. Please dont forget and tomorrow anytime you can do it and I will start the new thread for it.... C25K started January 10th.

You can post the time, steps, calories burnt any other stats important for you. It will be a good comparison to see these numbers actually. I never did it and may be I will be the weakest link:blushing:
