I could have swore I saw popcorn in the food list but can find nothing in the book as far as a portion size. Does anyone have any idea?

Yes, it is on the foods list, I was surprised at that. I assumed you just used the portion guide section as a reference - like I guess popcorn would ba a carb right? (sorry, clueless on popcorn not a fan of it) I think the portion size for a carb would be a fist, right??0

I was kind of confused because corn i believe was 2/3 cup. Definitely a carb. I would think popcorn would be more but I'm not sure at all.0

For me, I consider a serving size of air popped popcorn to be about 3 cups.
I use popcorn as an end of the day treat for HC days, and I weigh out the kernals ahead of time and enter that amount into mfp. Then I pop them, and eat to my heart's content. LOL. I havn't had popcorn in a long time though.. I think I usually eat 20-30grams or so.
Here's another way to look at it. If you go by the bag, a serving size of frozen corn is about 90 grams. But a popcorn kernel is 1/3 to 1/2 the size of a frozen corn kernel... so a serving of popcorn is going to be less than 45g... and likely closer to 30g.
The food list in the book is lacking. A while back, Chris published on his website a "smart foods guide" that is much more detailed, and some of the foods are changed too. I put a link to it in the sticky posts for this group.
Technically, popcorn is a "smart carb" and thus, we should only eat 1 fist full of it.. but I say bull honkey, and eat at least 2. LOL! But then again, I'm also a popcorn addict, so I figure going from a huge bowl of it down to just a couple cups is a good transition. :laugh:0 -
I like your plan better than a fist size. I have small hands I agree the book is lacking. A good week of menus in there would have been awesome. I noticed the list is different after I went to it after seeing it in your sticky topic. I love the idea and the book but a few things were not so clear to me.0

If something isn't clear to you, ask here! I've read the book probably 5 times now, and need to pick it up to re-read again since it's been a couple months. There is a lot of information in that little book... but it is hard to find once you've read it once. LOL. That's why I'm such a fan of a highlighter and sticky notes.
In my sticky "so you want to start choose to lose" I put together a sample menu plan for a week, so that people can get an idea of how I do mine. Maybe that will help too?0 -
Thanks . I will and you are so right. I have the kindle copy and ordered a hard copy because of this LOL I will likely ask a million more questions0
