Hi I bought a hoop about a year ago coz I love the idea of hooping for weight loss but there are no classes near me and I seem to be stuck with the simple hooping around the waist only.
I saw a few awesome youtube videos of plenty exciting things like hoop dancing etc but kind of need a little help and explanation of how to do all this.
Can anyone recommend a DVD or online hooping class to get me started properly?
Ta v. much xx

SaFire is amazing! Her classes are taught on Hooping.org (I believe it is).
Anyway, I make my boyfriend who does the staff translate her videos into further broken down steps (I need to be physically shown stuff), but her videos are great.
They are broken into different "courses" and it costs a chunk per coarse, but you have those videos forever. I've unfortunately been slow on my mini hooping coarse, but I still have the videos and she is available to answer questions on the forums and what not.
Definitely check it out!

You might want to search YouTube for hoop tutorials for basic moves. Once you find an "instructor" you like, you can keep using other videos from their channel.
Some moves to search for, from very basic to more advanced:
-- Lifts and drops (this will allow you to get the hoop off your body and then back on!)
-- Weave (basic off-body move) and Windmill (variation of weave)
-- Vortex (after you have mastered lifts and drops, this puts them together into a smooth up and down)
-- Angle hooping
-- Knee hooping
-- Shoulder hooping
-- Isolations0 -
I started with the videos from Hoopnotica. I'd look around to see if you can find coupons since that is how I got them cheaply.0

this is an excellent core list. remember to learn in the opposite direction each time you learn in your natural direction. (current and countercurrent)
and remember most of all to have fun, patience and a lot of it!
safire's classes are on hoopcity ... and there are a bunch of other instructors there, but i don't know that you necessarily need that. just practice and watch other people & hoop with other people if you can.0 -
