Milk is a carb right?

In the book it said milk was out but on the list linked to his site I see it is now a carb. I'm thinking one of my shakes on the high carb day could be pretty easy with just whey and skim milk. I hope I am correct!

Yes, Milk (1% or skim) is considered a carb. Anything high in fat than that would be a "smart fat."

I feel funny when I drink Almond Milk, which is the option that Chris suggests in the book. I also don't have any issues with dairy, so I don't see a problem using it in my shakes.

My HC shake recipe for each breakfast & as a snack on HC days:
    1/2 c skim milk
    1 c water
1 serving 20g protein shake powder
    1c frozen fruit

On Low Carb days I use coconut milk. It isn't very different from the almond milk calorie wise, but has a little bit more fat (if I remember correctly when I compared lables). My favorite LC shake is:
1/2 c unsweetened coconut milk (Trader Joes has a great one that is shelf stable until you open the box)
    1 c water
1 serving Chocolate 20g protein shake powder
1 tbsp unsalted organic peanutbutter from Trader Joes (It's just peanuts).

Thanks! I do like both almond and coconut milk. My logic is the shake for work at 9 might get funky like someone pointed out in another post. Milk could count for the carb and it would be easier at work. Or almond or coconut milk on the low carb day. So do you have fav fruit combos? I bought frozen peaches to try. My 16 year old weight trains and does a protein shake after. He was sick of my cheepo sams club vanilla so we picked up cookies and cream for him. I'll be trying it I think on a low carb day.

I use the proflex 20 shakes from Melaleuca (20g of protein per serving). They are a little on the spendy side, but by buying them, I'm helping a friend with her home business. Besides, I love how the Chocolate shake tastes, and the vanilla is good too. So, for now, I havn't tried any of the store brands since I'm doing well with those.

With my vanilla shake I almost always have it with the Wawona, Festival Blend: Mango, Papaya, Strawberries, Pineapple. This is really good, and is a nice tropical way of starting out my morning.

Ocassionally, when I'm in the mood for a change, I'll make a strawberry shake with the vanilla powder.. but this is pretty rare.

If I have a second shake during the day it is either chocolate/peanut butter (coconut milk), or chocolate strawberry (milk). Once every 6 weeks or so I will buy a small bag of mixed berries, and will use these instead with the chocolate shake too. mmmm yummy!

I usually stick with the strawberry or the festival blend because I get the big bags at Costco. The price is good, and I don't have to think. My brain is usually going in 50 different directions, so the less I have to think about what I eat the better.

Besides, I just love having a "peanut butter cup" or a "chocolate covered strawberry" for desert when I can. :)

I used the $$$ beachbody shakeology for a while. I finally decided no matter how yummy it was it was not worth over 119 to me for 30 shakes. Then they changed and made it the superfood formula . That clinched it because it wasnt as good. I still have a bit to use up though. We don't have a costco but do have sams club. I will have to check their fruit while there. That is where we get the simply right whey.

Today I am putting a bit of psyllium in my shakes for work. It seems to fill me up a bit more.

I'm finding the high carb day easy but thee low cal low carb hard. After so much time on a higher cal low carb it is such a switch to go to 1200 cals. I am going to be over again today on it but 100 but won't sweat it.

Oh wow! That is expensive! I was using ViSalus, which doesn't have as much protein... and was $99 plus shipping for 60 shakes plus shipping. With Melaleuca I can get 60 shakes for under $77 including shipping... and IMHO, they taste better than ViSalus.

Honestly, right now, your focus on LC days should be getting the correct quantities of food. I would stay "close" to 1200... but really, if you can eat everything you need (including your veggies for 1300 or so, I think you would be in great shape. Also, watch your protein. If you can get in 100g or more over the day, you'll likely feel fuller as well.

I second the Melaleuca Proflex 20. I've tried a ton of different protein type drinks, and this is by far my favorite. I just mix mine with water and a few ice cubes (the ice makes it thicker and creamer like a shake). Occasionally I'll add strawberries as well, it's delicious!

I had tried the ViSalus at one point too. I did like the taste but soy scares me. I am really pleased with the Simply Right brand for now. I will finish my beachbody up even though the super-foods formula is not as good.. I am glad to know going over cals is ok. I am just hungrier on low carb days so far. maybe sometime i will try the Melaleuca.

You will likely be hungrier on low carb. Chris says in the book that it is okay to eat more veggies than your 2 fistfulls if you need to because you are hungry. So, veggie up! (see chart on p. 171 for reference)
