    I always wanted to play the first Ragnarok, but never got around to it. If 2 is in open beta I think I'll hop in and give it a go. I'll let ya know when I get off work.

    cool, if anything, RO2 is like WoW, except set in the Ragnarok world setting, there are a few things I am kind of disappointed about RO2, it's not bad once you get into it.

    Are there servers/shards/whatever?

    I liked it's first incarnation. From what I've been reading, RO2 is a flop.

    If they could make something similar to original Ragnarok Online, without the endless level grind, then I think I'd totally go for it. I miss how cute it was. (I was a beta tester for RO back in the day.)

    @Seikonilly:
    yea there are currently 3 shards, I am playing on the Jourgumand server

    @Endlessmuse:
    yea, I wish they had some elements from original ragnarok, but for what it is, I am having fun playing Acolyte, since I was an acolyte during the first ragnarok, as for the cuteness, it's still there, just in 3d :)

    I tried getting into RO because my best friend played for years, but I just couldn't get into the pixel chibis; my first MMOs were Everquest and Ferentus, so I got set up for "3D" play, I guess.

    RO2 isn't like that though, right? Where's the open beta... I thought it was only Korea?

    I'm with ya on that one. My first MMO was UO, so my experience was murder and mayhem...and some loot. But it was 3D, and there were no races.

    wow so its finally coming out....i hope there are actual quests and some sort of guidance and some sort of auction house. i had no idea wtf i was doing or where i needed to be going but i sure had fun getting domed by grasshoppers carrying violins and sunny side up eggs wielding cast iron skillets.
  • My bf played the crap out of RO. And as much as I love chibis, I just couldn't get into it. Though to be fair, I think it was that some of the mob sound effects annoyed me, more than the chibis, that turned me off of it. Lineage (1), WoW, Aion, and Rift were always my MMO crack. I have a hard time finding appeal in MMOs these days since our wandering guild all broke up ... and most of them aren't playing MMOs anymore, either. :(

    I guess I know where the bf will wind up at some point! lol.

    So I downloaded it last night, and hopped in. Got to Adventure level 5 and Job level 8 (Acolyte Artisan). The lag was horrendous, but other than that it wasn't bad. I'll poke around at it some more this weekend. I'd like to at least get up to 25 so I can see the secondary classes.

    yea the lag can be really bad at times, but my friend in Singapore said she was getting horrible lag as well, I think it's just server traffic, because at some points, I have no lag at all.

    @Siekobilly, Acolyte class is pretty fun if you like being the healer/support, but I like how versatile the class becomes when you get the Aqua Benidicta and Ascensio spells, it improves healing or damage skills pretty well, and because the aqua spell restores your SP and you have an instant heal overtime spell, it's like no downtime at all when you are in the higher levels, but be careful if you choose to become a Monk, because you won't be able to cast any Acolyte healing spells or buffs, but you do get refunded all the skill points to distribute to the Monk skill tree
