The weekend is here (almost)

So what does everyone have going on this weekend?

My weekend is going to start tonight with bowling with a new meetup.com group a friend of mine wants to check out. This group is one that does things like hiking and rock climbing instead of just league and pickup sports like the other one we belong to.

Saturday no real plans yet but it is supposed to be around 70 so I am going to spend it outside.

Sunday hiking in the morning, going to try a new "mountain" and watching the Seahawks game in the afternoon (one of my friends is from Seattle).

Work, gym, repeat. Oh, and that football game too. It'll be on early for us on the west coast, 10am I think. I normally don't watch them since with my work schedule I am usually in bed and asleep by 2-3pm.

get off work at 3:00 today. Taking it easy tonight. Tomorrow, meet friends for a bike ride then to the gym. After that, I may watch football who knows. No plans for Sunday. A pretty uneventful, lazy weekend.

Cleaning the house, enjoying the unseasonable weather with the kids, football game tomorrow and maybe a date with the bf (he's pmsing this week and I'm about sick of it).

I have a bunch of plans tomorrow (which is REALLY weird for me) so I have to try and figure out how I'm gonna do everything. And it's gonna be 56 out! WTF?

Tonight.... Nothing. Sunday I'll probably just do homework.

Watching sports in the Pacific Time Zone is bliss. I like when games finish before 10 PM.

That's more of a problem in watching MLB and NBA than NFL, but I like MLB/NBA more so than NFL.

Back to Seahawks-Falcons, the early start could hamper the Seahawks. Also, they have some key injuries.

I have to take the Falcons in that match-up. They have too much talent and overall speed.

Falcons receivers against the Seahawk's great secondary will be an interesting matchup.

I'm going to see a band - called Incognito - tomorrow night at a venue in North London. A small, intimate venue that I love. The band have been around for years, so I know they'll be good.

Other than that, I'm just going to work out and eat right as I am SO in the mood for losing weight this year! (Last year was a bust, for various reasons).

    Happy Weekend everyone :flowerforyou:

Thanks Anna. He's got some things going on, so I am a little more understandable. I just hate men's coping mechanisms. I thought a good twirly would help....yeah, not so much. :grumble: It will get better though.

Don't worry Jen! We're doing the same this weekend. Since the kids were gone over Christmas break, I let them keep it up an extra week.

Living on the east coast I hate when my MLB team is playing on the west coast. The games usually don't end until midnight.

Since I've been on the pill, I think the man's mood swings are worse than mine. I feel your pain. Hang in there - it does pass. I love the guy, but sometimes I want to slap him and tell him to be a man...LOL

I haven't met a "boyfriend" but I have met a lot of great people. The key (and DM will back me up) is to go to meetup groups that are not just for singles but for activites that you like to do. Most my friends before this were all married with kids so I spent way to much time home alone.

I was part of a meetup.com group once and it was great! It was for Puerto Ricans in the metro area I lived in, so it was really nice to connect with them. I was looking into a Pug meetup once but was a bit too far out. I should look into meetup again now that I'm new to Florida!

Tonight I am meeting the bf and we are going to a cigar lounge to hang out in Deerfield Beach. Tomorrow I am finally going to see the condo I am closing on at the end of the month!! It needs a lot of work and my realtor suggested I not see it until the work was done but I can't wait! I've seen pics so it should be fine. Sunday? Hopefully a bike ride with the bf, but no plans yet.

Oh yes, when going to Meetups, you are way better off going to events that are centered around activities that you enjoy doing rather than the standard bar mix and mingles. The most fun I have had at any Meetup event is when one of my Meetup groups played sand volleyball a few times. I'm a huge fan of playing volleyball. Additionally, I belong to a tennis meetup group. The tennis meetup group is good for getting me new tennis opponents, but that group plays more doubles than singles. I am primarily a singles player and I don't enjoy doubles as much as singles. Nevertheless, the group basically has to do doubles because more people turn out for those events than there are courts to accommodate singles play.

In my experience, Meetup groups are primarily comprised of single people. Why? Because married people or people in relationships generally have no need for the majority of Meetup groups. They have established social circles.

The number 1 criteria of attending a Meetup event is the activity. I have other criteria as well, but things work best in Meetup if the activity is something you'd be doing if there was no Meetup event centered around it.

PUGS!!!!! I love pugs and one of my friends is getting a pug puppy and another of my friends has an older one. I always say that if I had a pug I would have a blog where it would be in a different outfit everyday. (They are the only dog I would dress up).

I grew up with pugs (Simba and Nala) and have a handsome pug now! I'll try to add a pic on here. His name is Cortez "El Conquistador". LOVE HIM!

Rufio's two best friends are a pug and a french bulldog, and he is completely smitten in love with the french bulldog puppy in his class (also named Nala).

Tonight is my roommates Bday and I had every intention of partying with him - except I'm sick as hell. I really just wish I could go back in bed and sleep the day away. Tomorrow is puppy class and puppy play with Rufio. I'm also going to take him to get licensed so he'll be a real dog (haha)! Then the rest is just volunteering and finishing unpacking from vacation and stuff.
