I'm looking for some water-filled hand weigts that I can use for travel. They seem to be freely available in the US (or at least on the US Amazon site), but I haven't been able to find a UK source. Does anyone have these, and if so, where did you get them?

You know I keep seeing these and thought they'd be freely available in the UK, but speaking as a champion Googler apparently not! The most popular brand appears to be called Aquabells and here's the link to the US Amazon link:

And here's a link to a US seller from UK eBay:

    Or a South Korean seller:

In the meantime, have you considered exercise bands or tubes when you travel? I always pop mine in my suitcase, and the heaviest resistance is not to be trifled with!

Yes, you can get a set of resistance band that are about 100 times more adaptable, useful, puncture proof and won't require draining or have mildew grow in them - for less cost.

I got a set from http://www.fitmag.co.uk/ that I'm very happy. There should be plenty of others available. Mine came with a range of bands plus handles and a door anchor.

I saw the Korean ones - I'm just not sure I'd trust that they wouldn't leak! The US seller I didn't find myself - thanks for the pointer!

Bands sound like a good theory, but I rather like my handweights, and have developed a good programme with them. I also want something I can gradually increase the weight of, rather than having to buy new hand-weights every few weeks, and the water-filled ones sounded like a good option in this regard!

Might have to get a US friend coming this way to bring me some!

Most sets of bands come with a range of different resistances. You increase resistance by choosing a heavier band, or adding bands - resulting in a huge range of resistances.

I'd like to say that they're not available due to a lack of market for them, but the Shakeweight and Ab circle pro's very existence makes that argument invalid.

To be honest, I'm really just worried that swapping systems will mean I simply don't do the exercises. I have absolutely minimal time to spare, and have to make the most of what's available, so having to learn a new system and a new technique is likely to mean that I just won't do it.

Most mornings, my strength routine is ten minutes, barefoot, and in my pyjamas, between rolling out of bed and getting in the shower, because that is the time available to me, and sleep is more important (and even harder to ringfence) than getting up even five minutes earlier to work out a new system. The familiar ie. handweights, doesn't require any extra time to figure things out - I just pick them up and do it! I do bodyweight exercises, and I currently have a 5lb handweight, that I'm aware is really too light, but have neither the spare space, nor the spare funds, to acquire progressively heavier weights, which I couldn't travel with, anyway (and I travel a lot).

How utterly obvious is the use of these bands/tubes, for every type of arm exercise (which is really my focus as my legs are absurdly strong anyway, and bodyweight exercises are simple/obvious/foolproof for added toning)?

They're dead easy and generally come with an exercise sheet - if not there's plenty on the internet. I've got a set of plain bands in different resistances and a set of tubes with handles. The former are dead cheap, tiny, light and versatile.
