Baby Movement

Hello All,
I am a first time mom and I haven't felt the baby move yet. I am almost 20 weeks along. I feel like every other person is asking me if I feel the baby yet. For those of you who already feel your baby moving and for those of you who have had children already, when did you feel your baby move?

My placenta is anterior and I felt my baby kick for the first time in week 20. My husband couldn't feel him/her until week 24. Our baby has more than made up for that slow start, haha, as he/she kicks constantly now! Hopefully you will feel it soon!0

I think for my first I was a good 20+ weeks before I felt the baby, and I wasnt even sure at first if it was the baby or gas lol.0

I'm an early feeler. My first at 15 weeks and this one at 13. But it is perfectly normal not to feel it quite yet at 20 weeks. You may have a placenta that is situated between baby and your tummy and that will block you feeling movements until baby is a bit bigger. Hope you feel them soon, but if you have any concerns speak to your doc/midwife.0

Hi! I'm a ftm, and I didn't feel the baby move until 21 weeks.... I do have anterior placenta, so it blocks a lot of the movement, and even now at 25 weeks she rarely kicks hard enough for my hubby to feel. At first I thought it was just my tummy rumbling and not the baby moving, it's so subtle at first! So don't be concerned, it's totally normal not to feel anything until 22-24 weeks!0

Baby 1 @ 19 weeks (anterior placenta)
Baby 2 @ 14 weeks (posterior placenta)
Baby 3 @ 16 weeks (anterior placenta)
Baby 4 @ 15 weeks (posterior placenta)
It seems like 20+ weeks can be pretty normal especially for a first time mom and even more so if your placenta is in front.0 -
With my first and this one I started feeling movement around 15/16 weeks. But I have to by lying down with my hands resting lightly above my uterus to feel the movement. Right when I lay down to go to bed is usually when mine have both been most active. It does take a while to distinguish little baby kicks from gas bubbles and muscle twitches though!0

Thank you for your responses. I may have felt something but like what many of you said, I'm not sure that's what I'm feeling.0

I am a "late feeler." With my first, I didn't feel him until 21 or 22 weeks (or at least I didn't think I did). I'm currently 21+ weeks with my second, and I feel him/her here and there during the day and more often at night (in the evening, not in the middle of the night). I felt potential "flutters" really early, but it took a while to develop into what I would say is for sure baby movement - I didn't feel that way until 17 or 18 weeks (you generally feel it earlier after your first).
Currently the feeling ranges from "flutters" to baby rolling around in there. I have even felt jabs on the rare occasion.
At this point it is not unreasonable or that unusual not to feel what your are sure is movement yet, especially given that this is your first. You are probably feeling it but not noticing it (or not recognizing it as that). Give it a couple more weeks.
Edited for grammar0 -
I'm a first time mom too and I start feeling flutters at around 18 weeks. 20 weeks is perfectly normal to not have felt anything.
Also, just to let you know, the best description of what I felt at first is that it's like someone is blowing bubbles through a straw in water. But it's like that in your belly :-)
You'll feel it soon, don't worry!!0 -
I was completely oblivious with my first and was 24w and my H felt him around 26w. With my second, I had the placenta in front, so I felt him around 22w and I don't remember when H felt him. With this babe, I was at 18w when I felt her and H felt her at 20w.0
