F*cking Smart Links

Hey folks, I've posted these often throughout my wall so I felt I should consolidate things that I consider useful into one thread. If you have any suggestions for something I should add, feel free to reply to this thread and I will add it to the list:

http://4chanfit.wikia.com/wiki/Harsh's_Worksheet_(WIP)

The above is one of my "primers" for anyone wanting to seriously approach Health and Fitness with an informed brain. It contains a ton of information, all linked to fact based studies and reliable sources. It is frequently revised, updated and fine tuned to better cover the subject matter contained. It is courtesy of 4chan.org/fit/ (Please do not visit that site if you have morals, small children, respect for me that you want to keep, and possible insecurities in your sexuality)[i/]

Dan is the one who set me straight on caloric intake and gave me an incredible understanding of TDEE. He puts a ton of effort into helping people and providing factual, useful information just like I do. For those who struggle with the food part of losing fat, this is a must read.

A detailed examination of the mechanics behind fat loss, muscle gain, and their interactions.

www.examine.com

It astounds me that this site exists and so few people know about it. It is maintained by Silverhydra from reddit.com, who provides info on supplements primarily but also tackles so many of the questions you see posted on the MFP forums again and again (Is creatine safe? Are eggs bad for me? How much protein is too much? Should I spit or swallow?) The site is updated constantly with studies and citations to back up and keep the info there updated.

http://phraktured.net/starting-stretching.html

Stretching is something people often misunderstand and neglect. If you lift, static stretching is something that should be saved for after you lift or for rest days. This site gives a good run down of many basic and helpful stretches that will improve flexibility, mobility, strength, and general well being.

Anyone that lifts is ideally on a routine where they end up doing a full body workout with every session or at least compound movements involving the lower body each and every lifting day. When people think warmup they generally assume some light cardio or just lighter sets of the lift they intend to do. The latter is often difficult for women and those starting lifting with maybe just the bar. The above routine is one I began doing before every lifting session and have already seen improved results

This is another fantastic stretching routine that is based in Yoga, and can help remedy some of the aches and pains that come from exercise, poor posture, or something as simple as a desk job. For those who do heavy compound lifts like squats and deadlifts (AND YOU F*CKING SHOULD), this will help build strength, stability, and flexibility in your posterior chain; the driving force behind these lifts. As this is a mixture of dynamic and static stretching, I recommend doing this in the morning well before a lifting session or immediately after. Try to do it every day regardless.

http://whfoods.com/foodstoc.php

This is a compilation of foods that are considered among the World's Healthiest; everything from fruits, veggies, to legumes and even spices. It contains a detailed breakdown of nutrient content, health benefits, and even ways to prepare and warnings. It is fantastic resource for learning a bit more about nutrition and some of the ways to eat your way to health.

Chris - You shared a link with me of a video of 2 static stretches that you said to do before lifting to stretch the hips. Of course I never bookmarked it. :grumble: Can you share that link here?
