The weight won't budge!!

In a nutshell lost 21lb 18 months ago with WW. Took me 3 months and was pretty easy. Gradually put 10lb back on since (hols/xmas/meals out etc) want to lose that and maybe another 7-10lb if I can by the summer!

So jan 1st started watching what I ate. Upped my exercise a bit running 5k twice a week outside or on our treadmill weather depending. MFP suggested 1600 cals per week which I was ok with.

Weeks 1 -2 lost 4lb in total

week 3 - gained a 1lb...weighed myself on the Fri but by the Mon had lost the 1lb ???? Admitted to myself I had been picking and not been honest with myself so gave myself a big talking to and started being much more careful, weighing food and putting everything into MFP even the odd sneaky choc biscuit I had.

Week 4 - decided to drop my cals to 1500 and this week I have been 100% honest with everything I ate. Upped my exercise a bit, couple of 20 minute walks extra. Still drinking lots of water. Not really, really hungry feel ok with portion sizes etc.

This week have stayed the same!!! Am gutted. I just don't understand it. I'm hoping it shows up early next week but I just don't know what else I can do.

My philossphy is eat less, move more...which I've done...to no avail!!!

I know whats its like, but if i were you i would'nt drop your calorie intake, but keep up the exercise. It may be your body is adjusting or you are retaining water a bit. Sorry i couldn't be more help, but good luck and keep going i am sure it will come together.

You just got to keep chipping away making good choices and exercising which your doing. You can't control what your body does, it'll show in the end :) and make sure you take your measurements :)
  • Overall though, that works out to 1lb a week! Which Id guess is about right for 1500 cals a day. You just have to keep going, it will come off! I imagine next week you'll show a 1.5-2lb loss!

No real help here, but just to let you know you are not the only one, I am still a pound over my pre Christmas weight, it is just not shifting despite eating healthy & within goals, plus walking daily

I know though that it will sooner or later following the calories out < calories in = weight loss

I have about a stone and a bit to go & have sent FR so maybe we can lose the last chunks together?

If you fuel less than your body needs you will lose weight. But, dont starve it too much as it was think you really are starving and try to keep hold of that fat reserve.

sounds like you are doing the right thing. In MFP add a goal of maybe 1lb per week. Also dont eat after 8pm, anything. Record everything you consume apart from water. So any apples, tea/coffee if it has milk, absolutely everything. It all has a calorific value and it can add up.

Also, weight yourself at the same time each day. Sorry if you know this. your weight changes up and down through the day. Best pick a time and stick to it. On waking seems easiest.

    Keep pushing and good luck.

Thanks everyone. I weigh myself every Fri morning at 7am, naked after I've been to the loo!

I'm really stumped as to why I can't seem to lose another 1lb. I've always found it ok healthy eating to lose weight.

Shall not be defeated though....at least I've stayed the same and not gained!

It does happen that the body takes a few weeks to adjust to a new eating plan - even if you have been eating healthily anyway. It could even be that you are doing a little more exercise. I would give it a few more weeks and see what happens. Hopefully you will have a good loss next week. Stick with it!

Um the same. I have bought a kifit (Bodymediafit) and signed up for their diet plan. A scientist looks at your information ant gives you personal feedback. I hope this is going to work.
  • Remember to take into account the exercise you're doing.

If you're running, you won't just be burning calories you'll be building muscle.

Weight alone isn't a good indicator, body fat % is much better thing to look at.

So don't be disheartened if you're not losing weight, you're probably still getting fitter and healthier.

Lost 0.6lb - yay so its beginning to shift. That's 4.6lb in 4 weeks - great!!!

And I upped my calorie intake by 100 cals a day and drank more water
