Thought it would be a good place for any Tips and Advice to keep motivated and determined on the right path. I am always looking for advice off of people to keep me motivated!

I know there is a motivational thoughts thread but thought this could be for both asking and answering...

So the first bit of advice I have:

    Portion control

When I first started living with my partner, we had square rimless plates and it meant my portion needed to fill the whole plate, so obviously WAY to big. We went and bought round plates that had that inner rim, so when I plate up, if food goes over the inner rim its WAY too much, and if sits nicely in the rim you know its a decent amount. Obviously over the last 2 years my portion control has changed drastically anyway but its a good start.

Also things like bowls, my Mom has 2 sizes, a normal bowl and one that is slightly smaller thats called 'breakfast bowl'. When she put her 40/50g cereal in the normal one it didnt look full enough so would 'top' it up, whereas in the breakfast one, it came to the top & psychologically you felt you were eating more.

    Hunger [Pains]

Have a drink. Sometimes being thirsty is masked by the idea of being hungry, so have a drink and see how you go

If you get peckish around 8/9pm sitting on sofa watching tv, go and brush your teeth. Your brain will link brushing teeth with getting ready for bed and therefore hunger will go as minty taste in mouth.

Also Tattty off UKB had a good tip, im sure she won't mind me taking it!
What you do is when you are craving something bad start a stopwatch for 10 mins. In that 10 mins really question if you want it or not, think about if you are actually hungry, think about how you will feel after you have eaten rubbish food and think about how you'll feel if you have it and get on the scales and have gained.

    Good idea Lou,

Really simple.....do something during the advert breaks on the tv, or set a timer to go off and go and do something, climb the stairs, get down and do some sit ups, jog on the spot, do anything in those 3 minutes rather than staying still.

Drink water from a wine glass.

I don't know why but it just seems better (and I don't even drink wine)
