EXTREMELY hormonal!

I have been on this period for about 7 weeks now, and it shows no sign of slowing down. Last was before Halloween, so I guess there's a lot. Mine are usually 6-8 weeks long, so this is nothing to see a doctor about.
How do you deal with the hormones? Today, all I want to do is cry into a bucket of ice cream, eat a box of Little Debbie brownies, and watch sappy chick flicks or cute cat videos. No matter how many times I walk over to the player, I can't get myself to start my exercise video.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in my life right now. No reason to be depressed. It's just the hormones, and they are driving me CRAAAAZY today!

I hear ya! Hubby was very sweet and supportive last night as I got a good cry in... It happens, and even when I laugh in between the tears and say " it's just the hormones", it's still going to feel just as bad!
I've found that spoiling myself on sleep (not too much though) and getting adequate sunshine (if its available) at least helps me snap out of it quicker. You should probably be taking an iron supplement and a multivitamin as well if you're losing that much blood, or at least eating lots of red meat :-)
Just try to take care of yourself, and don't play on your weaknesses right now- watch funny videos and once you start smiling, hurry up and get outside and burn off some hormonal energy before the hormones get the upper hand again. You can do it!0 -
Thank you so much for the reply- it is a huge relief to know I'm not the only one!
I did give in, but not completely. I had *a* brownie, *a* soda, and some ice cream. I managed to only go about 800 calories over, but I can make that up by going a little under today and doing a few extra workouts this week.
I read in another thread that someone's doctor told them we store hormones in our fat, and they get released as we burn off that fat. I suppose that would explain it. Hopefully, it also means I will be a lot more stable once I am down to a healthier size.0 -

That's interesting. I haven't heard that, but I'd be interested to read about it. With PCOS though, it's normal for us to have these hormone swings (and indeed it's still normal sometimes for most women). I'm borderline underweight with PCOS and I still have issues with it.
But the key for me I think is to try to keep it short and sweet. I'll let myself cry it out, maybe indulge a little, and then I'll watch a puppy video, wipe away the tears, and get moving. Exercise is crucial for me, and that's probably a common thing. If I literally tire myself out, I don't feel as hormonal. Plus, you will feel good about having exercised, and you will have that extra calorie deficit to fit in those sweets that call to you when you feel down.
I wish you the very best!0
