My inspiration

I have this pic on my desktop at work. This is me (left) in 1998. 210lbs. I had just finished a 100 mile backpack at Philmont Scout Ranch in the San DeChristo Mts.
The man standing to my right is my good friend **** Austin. The meeting was quite by chance; neither of us knew the other would be at the Ranch that year. The day before this pic we were just coming off the trail and we saw each other from quite a way away. We had not been together in 20+ years but immediately there was recognition.
**** passed away last year and he is dearly missed. He had a smile that lit up a of the out doors. He was also a hiking machine even into his 70s. This pic was taken some 20 years after his bout with cancer. After all the treatment and therapy he still made it back into the back country and that has been my inspiration.
So now I am 100lbs heaver than this day in 1998. I have not been to any backcountry since 2007 and I desperately want to get back.
