Hello All - Question on Nutrition

Hello everyone! I am excited to find a Combat group here on MFP. I am absolutely in LOVE with this program! My question for you all is what are you doing for nutrition? I am 5'4 and after losing 20+ lbs with Turbofire over a year ago, I have fluctuated within a 10lb range, and though I have kept most of the inches off and built up some muscle with Pump, I cannot seem to get over this hump again. This is also the weight around which I slowed down losing with TF before it went back up again. I am 5'4", weighed 181 when I started Combat Jan 7th. I have never been this consistent on nutrition, trying to eat as close to the recommended 40/30/30, and staying pretty close overall. I am eating a Net 1200 cals a day, which is what I did on TF and worked so well for me. I increased that to 1500 net for Pump and lost 5lbs but that's it. My problem or frustration right now is that everyone in my challenge group on FB is losing like crazy from Combat, inches and weight and I haven't budged. At all. On either lbs or inches. At least as of weight/measurements after 3 full weeks. I know sometimes it takes women especially a little time to see changes, but nothing moving after 3 full weeks seems a little off to me. My diary is open so I will take any and all suggestions you may have!

    Hi Sbthud!!

I"m so glad you found us! I'm 5'4" also, and really struggling w/ my last 15 lbs. I wish I were at my goal so that I could say, "This worked for me, so try it!", but I'm still in the process of losing--in fact, I saw a little loss today. My measurements are nearly the same after 30 days as they were in the beginning, so I understand that frustration. When I did Insanity, my weight was nearly the same for a month and a half, and then BAM! The last 2 weeks, I saw a lot of weight loss. I can't explain it...I just had to keep plugging away.

I have been following the ratio recommended by the Combat program, w/ my calories at 1800. I often don't eat that much--I probably average about 1600-1700 most days. And I don't 'eat back' my calories...meaning my caloric intake is 1800 (or a little less) whether I workout or not.

I'm not seeing tremendous weight-loss yet, either--at least not yet. It's definitely slower than it has been in the past. Are the people in your other group that are seeing so much loss women or men? Are they new to working out? I find that those of us who have been working out for awhile find it harder to lose weight quickly. That's when we either have to increase the intensity of our workouts or really start tweaking our diets.

One thing I have really started doing is upping my protein. I drink Shakeology, from Beachbody, and I add a scoop or two of 'Raw Protein' (Garden of Life brand), from Amazon.

*********************** I just looked at your food diary...do you only eat 1200 calories a day? If so, I bet that's the culprit. That's just not enough fuel for your body to make it through the workouts. Your calories look pretty clean, for the most part. However, I see that your protein intake is pretty low. Let me see if I can find the link my sister sent me about what a woman's protein intake should be and I'll post it on our "Week 5" topic, okay? My sister's fitness is definitely in the 'elite' category--she looks like the trainers on the videos :-)

So let me find that link and I'll post in a bit! See you on the other topic!!

Hey cjem! Thanks for your reply and advice. I am eating 1200 NET calories per day, which with my workout burn added in, usually equals 1500-1800 cals per day total. I usually end up around 26-30% protein, but I have thought about adding a scoop of whey to my morning ShakeO, and I like that idea, gonna have to try that soon. It is nice to know I am not the only one in this slooooooow boat. :) I do have to say though, I am noticing a difference in other areas, my arms especially look more defined, so I can keep myself motivated with that! Just frustrating when the scale and tape measure don't budge!

I am already planning on ordering the extra DVD's since I only got the basic pack for this round. I want to do another round after I finish this one with the Ultimate plan. As for the other people in my challenge group, I am not 100% sure on everyone, but I know there are some who have been doing programs for as long as I have and others that are either starting or have more to lose. The people reporting losses (like one girl is down 8lbs already!) are a mix of the two, though probably heavier on the newer/more to lose wagon. Which I get, and I understand and all that.......still it is frustrating. :)
