I'd recommend the conti. black one - mine's done well over a year now, of fairly solid use, and the moulding pips have barely worn off it!. Also, as you're (like me) a little larger than the 55kg columbian climbers that Tacx seem to target with their kit, I'd recommend you make sure you're running the tyre at the top end of the recommended pressure range, and have the calibration wound up on the Tacx to the upper regions of whatevers recommended on the Tacx forum - the tyres wear on these ergometer type trainers due to tyre-slipping, not through friction - so if the tyres over-warm at the end of the session, tighten the friction knob and re-calibrate next time.

Conti and CycleOps both make really nice ones specifically for that purpose. With as much as I ride the trainer (pretty much year round), I still burn through at least one a year. When I used normal road tires, I went through them much faster.

The worn out one IS a trainer specific one if I'm not mistaken - it looks very much like the Tacx trainer tyre...
  • That's impressive.

The continental trainer tire I have has been abused all inter and still looks like the day I bought it. How much time have you put on that thing?!?

That could be. I've never seen theirs in person and I tend to forget about them (for some reason none of the stores I shop carry them)

I usually get about 150 hours or so out of the Conti ones.

The worn out one is a Schwalbe 'Insider' Trainer Tyre

I've bought a Vittora Zaffiro Pro to try... A lovely shade of red
