"Endurance/Obstacle" races and tying in CrossFit

Anyone do the obstacle/endurance races? Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, Spartan Race, etc etc etc.
I have to say that I did one called Mud Endeavor in October before starting Crossfit and it was HARD...wanted to leave the course many times, but that's just not me. I had a bum shoulder too (just getting over sprained AC joint) so it was hard to gauge how I could have done in reality i guess.
This past saturday after a month and a half of crossfit, I did warrior dash in central florida. Can i just say that I was pleasantly surprised that i actually found this to be EASY? maybe it was the selected obstacles for this course, but omg.....i have to believe 120,000% crossfit helped.
Let me know your experiences if you've done any of these!

I know a lot of people who have had success with CrossFit Endurance workouts.
I don't know that it helped during my obstacle race but after 2 months of never running (outside of CF) more than once a week at about 2mi per run I nearly set a 5k PR, the PR was from two years ago with doing an 8 week training program. It seems to be a great crosstraining tool.0 -
I've done both the warrior dash and tough mudder before I even started crossfit. I also found warrior dash quite easy, but it is only a 5km race. Tough mudder was def a hard time, but I am excited to see if I find it any easier now that I have been attending crossfit. I'm signed up for the mudder in June, so I'll keep working hard until then0

We are doing the Savage Race as a box and I'm scared, never done one of these races before, I kind of hate running. lol0

that is awesome! i am anxious to see the difference in how you feel doing it this time around
savage race is coming here in april i believe, but i just dont have the money for it right now - the running is minimal at best, littlehokie, because you're kind of waiting at some of the obstacles for people to get over them so the running in between is actually kind of nice because it lets you feel like youre getting somewhere...hahaha.0 -
obstacle/endurance races? this sounds like so much fun!! :happy:0

Not yet. But going to sign up for Spartan coming up in May. So by that time I will have 4 months of CF under my belt. I'm positive this is going to help. We will see.0
