Hey all!

I happened across the link for heybales spreadsheet so I thought I would link it here as I know it has been brought up a couple of times!

    To be honest, I only just looked at it for the first time yesterday! I came across it in the main forums and knew that it was coveted so I decided to post it.

    TBH.....The spreadsheet itself is magnificent however it tells me to eat far less than what I would like to eat :laugh: So for right now I'm going to continue on my merry way and see what happens! I know that there is no way I can progress on my lifts eating less than I am right now. That being said, there might come a day when I need to take a new approach and I do think that this spreadsheet could come in handy :happy:

    I'm using the spreadsheet because my primary goal is weight loss, and I know my strength gains will suffer from the steep deficit. If your goal isn't strictly weight loss, it isn't quite as useful, but probably can still be a tool for you to gauge by. If nothing else, it gives me very bad estimates for bf% :laugh: Seriously, how can anyone think I have 26% bf?!?! Of course, the other one makes up for it by saying 44%.

    Oh I totally agree! I'm not saying that the spreadsheet has no value....just that it's not what I need right at this point but it could totally be something that will be invaluable down the road, for me personally :happy:

    I think I'm going to switch to spreadsheet mode. Average per week isn't going to be a huge change from what I was doing before but I like the idea of eating the same amount ish daily and not just when I exercise (too easy for me to then use food as a reward for exercising...)

    Since my cardio is so um.. unregular... such as going from no cardio last week to 45 minutes of interval running this week... I think I'm going to try the spreadsheet with my typical days and lifting and still eat back some cardio calories. Anyone else try something like that?

    For anyone who is curious MFP had me eating 1,200 cal which i deemed crazy because I was exhausted constantly, and so bumped it up to 1500 myself with eating back exercise and heybales has me at 1,695 without eating back exercise.

    I plugged in the numbers and boom! Feeding frenzy, LOL...

    I started at 1200 when I started logging again in January, given I knew NOTHING about BMR or TDEE. After contemplating homicide on a couple of occasions because I was tired and hungry, I adjusted my MFP goal settings to lose .5/week, which bumped me to 1310. Then I went and did the TDEE calculator at scooby's web site, I think it was, and did the -20% calcs on my ten-key here at work and came up with 1600.

    I like the spreadsheet because a) it took into account my activity level, and b) it gave me 1811 calories to eat per day. :)

    I have set my exercise calories goal to "0" and only log 1 calorie for whatever workout I am doing...be it SL or light cardio. It IS kinda weird to not try to eat my exercise calories back, but like anything else, I'll get used to it. I like the fact that I can actually eat, be happy, and still lose the inches.

    I filled it out, and I found something weird. If I put in that I do absolutely no exercise (just to see what it would say), it gives me a daily eating goal of 1522 calories. If I add only 90 minutes of lifting per week, it drops my calories to 1398. ????
