Not sure if this group is still functioning but if you live in or near Plymouth then Heart Beat gym at the old Scott Hospital is really cheap, basic but cheap.
It doesn't have everything that a commercial gym has but it does have cardiovascular equipment like Treadmills, Rowers, Exercise Bikes and Cross Trainers etc.
Just thought I'd let you all know.
