Triggers

I get very overwhelmed by the behavior of other people on the site. I am in the process of trying to stop cutting, and seeing all the super thin people eating 800 calories a day and exercising all day, or the insults that pass as jokes and chit-chat, as well as the constant use of the term 'feeling like a victim' to refer to mental illness, it all reinforces my view that I live in a hostile, out of control world. Please don't tell me to drop off the site. I need the friends I have made here. I am an introverted and lonely person, so this is a crucial contact for me.

Anyone else get triggered by things around you, not necessarily on this site?

Try to ignore the haters :). There will always be obnoxious and unsupportive people. You can add me if you want, I try to be supportive, and I'm not super thin and I DEFINITELY don't eat 800 calories lol.

I am often triggered to overeat by stressful situations, even when I'm not the one in them! I overheard a boss yelling at one of his employees today and it really shook me up.

Definitely don't give up on the site, just defriend anyone who is exhibiting behaviour that you find troubling.
You're not letting them down; you're standing up for YOURSELF.
