Aspertame

After having an allergic reaction to low cal yogurts twice in the last 3 weeks, I think I've decided the culprit is aspertame. Went to the doctor after the first episode, but they could find anything. In fact test allergy test didn't find that I was allergic to wheat or pet dander and I know for certain that I am. Anyway, since the reactions don't happen every time I eat something with aspertame in it, I'm going to start being very careful and paying attention. I know that going wheat free/gluten free last April, there have been some major changes in my life for the better. Maybe if I stay away from aspertame, I can add reduced sinus problems to the list of improvements.

So don't always trust your medical professional, pay attention to your body and what you put into it. You know yourself better than anyone else.

Giving up artificial sweeteners can be nothing but good for you even if you aren't specifically allergic to them. After awhile, you'll find they don't even taste good. Also, have you considered dairy as a possible intollerance? Just asking because you mentioned sinus problems which are typical of dairy issues.

I've never considered dairy, mostly because I do eat much of it. But I will consider it now and keep careful watch. It seems that since I gave up wheat, I'm discovering that other foods might also be causing my continuing problems. Although the sinus problem might be genetic because I had an aunt that had the same problem.

Thanks again, I will start paying more attention.

Most professionals do not believe that food is the culprit of anything. However aspartame can cause many problems and most people do not know this or will not accept that this is a possibility.

I am not sure what other foods you may be consuming that your body may be having reactions to. But I give you double kudos for giving up aspartame. Be aware that it is in many foods with different names and you need to look those up.

I am aware that aspertame is in many foods. No more diet anything for me and I will be checking all foods that say they are low-fat or non-fat because they, too, might contain it. Thanks for your input, I find it very helpful.

I've been thinking of trying to avoid an sweeteners.
If you think or are allergic or have problems with wheat many yogurts have modified starches in them which are gluten. i completely avoid flavoured including plain yogurts as they make me ill while eating them due to the modified starch i always find in them and stick to natural yogurts as they are the only yogurt i can eat with no reaction, add fresh fruit and all round it will be much better for you in every way.
