What are you eating for protein?

I need ideas to get more protein in my diet! We generally only eat meat a few times a week, so non-meat ideas would be great.

Greek yogurt! I eat it as yogurt, but also as a substitute for sour cream and mayo. So good!

I put peanut butter in my oatmeal and eat wraps with refried beans, cheese and avacado in them for lunch. String cheese is another staple, but I try not to do too much dairy. I also add chia, hemp and flax seed to my oats for protien and fiber.

I forgot that I have been doing egg salad a lot for lunch, too. It packs quite the protien punch. We don't do much meat either and I usually do ok on protien. Feel free to check out my diary if you want!

Greek yogurt, kefir (Lifeway is a good brand - if you like Greek yogurt, you'll like kefir), cheese, beans, peanut butter, and eggs are my big sources. I'm just not that into meat. I've had a food aversion to chicken pretty much my whole pregnancy. It happened to me with my first pregnancy, too. The thought of a good grilled chicken breast is nice, but then when it comes to eating it, I just can't stomach it. I am not into steak, either, although I love it when I'm not pregnant! I can do ground beef if it's done in certain ways. Tacos are fine, as are burgers - but I don't eat them often unless I want to gain even more weight. I can't do ground turkey, either - major food aversion! - plus I don't eat pork or seafood (not for religious reasons or anything like that - I just don't like them).

Egg salad is a good standby. It's been a while since I've had it, but I do love it and should make some tonight to get me through the rest of the week's lunches! If I don't have something easy to make/pack for lunch, I tend to eat out --> fast food :frown:

I also have a hard time getting enough protein. I have egg whites for breakfast, string cheese, nuts and peanutbutter, greek yogurt for snacks. I try to eat a salad for lunch to get in some spinach and veggies, but sometimes I do chicken salad instead. Higher cal but gives more protein and usually either chicken, ground beef, buffalo or elk for dinner. On occasion I'll have fish or shrimp. I just got some Nature Valley protein bars. They are good to curb my sweet/salty/crunchy cravings and have 10 grams of protein.

I've been eating chicken cooked any way, and lean cuts of steak....as well as string cheese or cheese cubes....beans and avocado are good too! I also drink a lot of lowfat milk. I can't stomach eggs or peanut butter though so I'm interested to see some of your suggestions.

Oh, yes, I forgot milk! I drink 1%, and from time to time I will buy chocolate milk and drink it as a dessert

Lol what haven't I been eating! Jk. I'm big on low fat peanut butter, oatmeal, chicken breast, extra lean turkey, and turkey bacon. I also eat yogurt, and once and a while when I have a smoothie I will add a bit of protein powder. I'm super picky so I just have to find the foods I like lol
