Pulling Hair

edited January 15 in Social Groups
My 5 month old pulls his hair a lot. It seems to happen mostly when he is trying to fall asleep or eating. Is this normal?

My guess is that it's self-soothing (and normal).

My son does a strange hand opening/closing/scratching thing when he eats, and when he is lightly sleeping. Babies this age love textures and exploring with their hands.

If you are worried about the hair pulling, maybe you could put a blanket in his/her hand instead?

I have heard of that before. I would try to occupy his hands so he doesn't pull out fistfulls or try mittens. A friend of mines son would scratch at his face horribly and pull his hair as a baby and that is what she did to protect his hair and face.
